Merlin took a deep breath. This was the moment of truth, he'd stayed up several nights worrying and wondering about the pros and cons of this decision. The waiting had gone on long enough. The fans were getting irritated.

"Arthur." He said, and the prince in question looked up from his food momentarily.

"Yes, Merlin?"

Suddenly losing most of his nerve, Merlin stalled, "Well, you see, it's a funny story, really-"

"Merlin." Arthur growled, taking another bite of egg, "Spit it out."

"I-can-do-magic."

Arthur's fork dropped to his plate, and he looked at Merlin expressionlessly. "What did we say about joking about that sort of thing?" He asked, quietly. This wasn't amusing.

Merlin shook his head, "No, I'm serious. I can do magic." He had to put real effort into saying this, and his stomach was doing nervous cartwheels.

Arthur was still looking at him. Merlin wasn't sure what he expected- immediate belief, anger, being run through with the sword he had sharpened the day before? Not… whatever this was.

"Merlin-" The prince started, and Merlin knew he was just going to say the same exact thing about joking. This was enough.

Merlin raised his hand towards Arthur's food, and, faster than the prat could react, the breakfast shot up towards the ceiling. Arthur's eyes widened and Merlin readied himself to run or beg or whatever was going to happen now.

Instead, Arthur said, with wonder in his voice, "Oh my god, Merlin, I had thought you were here to draw me out and get me killed. I didn't think you could actually…" The prince trailed off, and the look of relief on his face spoke volumes. Very confusing volumes.

"…what?" Merlin asked, off balance.

Arthur grinned at him and his eyes flashed gold.

A/N- OK! 1) I didn't know what a drabble was. I always thought it was just a REALLY SHORT oneshot. "

2) Um. I believe this has been done before. However, I wrote this for a friend today. And I liked it. So I posted it. Yay! Btw, if it has been done before in a full length fic, oh my gosh can you tell me where? :D
