On Luna Lovegood's first day of school, she showed up to Transfiguration with a brightly striped robe. It had been black when she had put it on in the morning, she explained to an irate Professor McGonnagal, and it must have changed colors when she was walking to said class. Surprisingly, the professor was not convinced when the blonde 1st year supposed it must have been nargles that did it.
If the young Ravenclaw had been thinking of two nargles, both red-headed in 3rd year with a penchant for coming up with pranks, she would have been closer to the mark. She would have been even closer if she had guessed that their names were Fred and George Weasley.
The Transfiguration teacher had asked her to change, and so, the girl skipped back to the common room. As she opened her wardrobe, she frowned.
Everything was striped, from her hats to her socks. She had to admit, they looked very nice, but she didn't think her strict teacher would approve. And so, she turned to Padma Patil's cupboard, wore a black robe of hers, and went back to class without any qualms.
At lunch, said young Ravenclaw decided to sit next to her classmates. Bad move. Miss Patil immediately leaned over the table, brows furrowed.
"Um, pardon me for asking," the Indian girl started, "but are you wearing my robes?"
"Yes," the blonde replied lightly, taking a cup of pudding.
"Why?"
"All the rest had a bad case of stripes," Luna replied seriously, looking around the table for something else appetizing. "Oh, lima beans!"
"Lima beans?" Cho Chang asked, a disgusted look on her face.
The flighty blonde sighed. Well, if her new friends hated lima beans, she might as well try to fit in. Even though it was pretty much impossible after the morning's events. Things like that always seemed to happen to her, and it looked like Hogwarts was no exception. The nargles must have had it in for her.
"I don't like them at all, do you?" She lied, a daydreamy smile on her face.
"No, not at all," Miss Chang replied emphatically.
And so the day proceeded. In Charms, she hadn't even picked up her wand before the feather they were trying to levitate blew off her desk. In Herbology, the Venomous Tentacula had almost closed around her throat before she noticed. In Potions, the professor took a dislike to her, but she decided that he took a dislike to quite a large amount of people.
Then finally, she could head back to her dormitory. Really, this Lovegood didn't mind terribly when things like this happened to her, but if it were to happen every day, Hogwarts would become incredibly tiring, incredibly quickly.
Luna climbed the stairs to her dorm and sat on her bed cross-legged. Today had not gone so well, she decided, after a moment's reflection. She was nowhere close to fitting in, and she was pretty sure that some people were already pulling pranks on her.
There was a sharp crack and she turned around. No one was in the room besides her, but a plate of lima beans that were definitely not there before had appeared on her nightstand.
Smiling, the young Ravenclaw took a bite. Well, if she had to have many people who didn't like her, at least she had one friend.
A/N: Oh gosh, I love Luna! It's so fun to write from her perspective. Well, it's sorta tough as well, because her mind is so flighty, but still!
How did you think I did? I tried a different writing style for this, so did you like it? Or do you prefer my other stories?
Wow. A Fred/Luna/George fic. That would be interesting. Wow. xD
Till next time, Her Majesty, The Queen, Violet ^_^
