Ash was sitting beside her sick mother's bed, holding her hand. The doctors had told him that she didn't have long time left, and Ash was struggling not to let his sadness show. He had to be strong for his mother. He loved his mother, and didn't want to seem weak. She had always been cheering on him while he was battling, and no matter if he lost or won, she was always proud of him.
Ash remembered the day he started his journey, his mother had told him that she knew he would be a great Pokémon trainer, just like his father. But he still didn't know who his father was. Every time he asked her, she said he was a great Pokémon trainer, before she switched subject.
"Mom.." Ash began, and Delia looked up at him with tired eyes. Even if he wasn't a doctor, he could see she didn't have long time left.
Ash gently squeezed her hand, smiling a little.
"Remember Ash, I..Love you, and.. I'm very proud of you." She smiled weakly, and a tear escaped Ash's eyes.
"Mom, I love you too!" Ash didn't feel like the grown up man he was, he felt like the little child he used to be, counting on his mother to kiss his bruises.
"Mom, Can I ask you something?" He asked, trying to keep cool.
"You want to know who your father is, don't you?" Delia tried to stretch out her hand to cup his cheek, but she was too weak.
"Yes mom, I think I am ready to finally know who my father is." Ash said, looking into his mother's brown, loving eyes.
"Ash, you father.." Delia didn't come longer than that, because she started feeling sleepy, and she knew it was time for her to leave this world.
"Ash, always remember I.." Her eyes closed, and she could feel herself leaving her weak body behind.
"Mom? Mom, please, don't die!" tears started running down his cheeks, and he looked into her mother's brown eyes, as he saw the life leaving her body.
"Mom, I love you" he whispered, gave his mother a last kiss on the cheek, and left the room.
He dried his tears as he saw his old buddy Pikachu running in his direction. He tried to smile, but he simply couldn't. Not even Pikachu could make him feel better.
