The Girl With a Voice
Sitting by a piano, fingers numbly playing.
What does this song mean?
Tears are filling the eyes of a woman.
In the light of possibility they gleam.
The girl with a voice, hidden behind the lies.
Pretends that's she everything when she's not.
Lies on her bed at night, tossing with the guilt.
She can't sleep when the lies are so hot.
A lowly kitchen worker covered in flour,
Waiting for the perfect moment to reveal.
Drowning in the lies she created,
Two friends made a deal.
The girl with a voice, hidden behind the lies
Looks for help in her friends, but they're fake.
Getting deeper and deeper into her web
The boy in her dreams is hard to shake.
Her first lesson in becoming normal,
It's becoming harder with each step.
The music's loud and echoes in her head.
Fixed in her mind, her life's all set.
The girl with a voice, hidden behind the lies
What can she do when it comes to goodbyes?
The lies are untold, the tears fall from her eyes
The boy is shouting while she tries not to cry
The girl with a voice, hidden behind the lies
Steps into the spotlight and tries to let go.
He's on the other side, not knowing it's her
When she speaks it's the voice he knows
Sitting by a piano, fingers numbly playing
What do these words represent?
'This is real, this is me',
A song that's filled with no regret
But the tears are clear as she stands small
And the song is playing behind
She can't find her voice, she's stuck on him
As his similar eyes also shine
The girl with a voice, hidden behind the lies
The truth is out and she's said her goodbyes
She'd drowning, drowning, chances are thin
No one can save her now, it's down to him
The voice is heard, and no one can see
Through the mask she'd put up so long ago
Tears are falling faster and the song's fading
Silence fills the room, the girl's the freak show
People watch from afar, watching her cautiously
She's about to crack, scared of their reaction
The girl that was a woman before
Has slowly shrunk into depression.
Ruined things in one short second,
When the first best friend was found.
Afraid of being forgotten and shunned
Played around, kicked into the ground.
The girl with a voice, forgetting the truth.
She slowly looked up and saw the light
Facing her fears, and drawing a breath
She told them shamefaced of her lies.
The girl with a voice, she was finally heard.
Naked and exposed, the harsh light of revenge.
Letting out all the pain of her past
Tied together were all the loose ends.
Sitting by a piano, fingers numbly playing,
A firm hand gently tapping along.
The boy and girl with voices, together again.
Bowing as the curtains close; 'end of song'.
A/N: This was a song I wrote thinking about Camp Rock. I'm gonna put it up on SongStuff as well, so it's all mine. I thought I'd put it here first because I don't think anyone other there would know what this is about.
I tried to capture it all in, along with rhyme and repetition. There's no specific chorus, verse(s) or bridge, since it's just a rough so far. I wrote this in about 20 minutes I think, but I got stuck near the end so it's definitely not as good. But I really like it.
I'm quite chuffed that it sort of makes sense from a 'not Camp Rock' point of view. Except the stanza about the lowly kitchen worker, covered in flour. Hee :) Please tell me what you think.
Plus, this isn't going against the rules, is it? Good. Because I've seen people put up poems and songs before. And it's about Camp Rock so it's okay, right? Good. So, yeah tell me what you think.
Maybe I could write Camp Rock 2? LOL xD
peace and good time,
chloe.
