It's my birthday so I decided to celebrate with some Femshep/Ashley fluff!

This chapter is dedicated to Lynchy, who I promised to write something for… well over a month ago… Better late than never right?

Ashley sighed as she rolled and reached out for her wife, only to find cool sheets instead. She lay there listening for any movement, but silenced filled the house. Throwing back the covers, she swung her legs off the bed and stood with a yawn. She checked the bathroom first, finding it empty, before heading to the other most likely place Jane would be, the nursery.

Walking the short distance down the hall, Ash stopped as she stepped through the doorway and just soaked in the scene before her, a loving smile on her face.

Moonlight flowed through the open curtains, bathing Jane and their infant son in the soft light. Both were fast asleep in a rocking chair with Jane's feet propped up on the window sill and Kaidan cuddled into her chest, his brown hair sticking out from his head at odd angles, with the Commander's arms wrapping him protectively even in sleep. An empty bottle lay forgotten on the floor while a soft towel barely hung off of Shepard's arm.

Loathe to disturb them, but knowing if she left them there Jane would be sore in the morning, the Lieutenant Commander crept back to the bedroom before returning with her omni-tool and snapped a few pictures of the sleeping duo, sending copies to the former Normandy crew. With the pictures taken, Ash powered down the omni-tool and gently shook the Commander's shoulder.

"Jane. Jane, it's time to wake up."

Shepard jerked awake, blinking rapidly while her right hand instinctively went to where her pistol would have been holstered and the other pulled Kaidan closer to her. She immediately relaxed when she recognized Ashley and offered her a sheepish smile.

"Hey."

Ash wore a gentle smile, her tone slightly teasing as she whispered, "Hey yourself. If I keep waking up to find you sleeping here I might start getting jealous."

Jane smirked and shrugged with one shoulder as she slowly picked up the fallen bottle, careful not to awaken the slumbering baby, "Maybe I have a new favorite."

The Lieutenant Commander scowled and pretended to be offended as she flicked Jane in the forehead, which only widened the other woman's smile. The scowl faded as Jane pulled her legs down from the window sill and stiffly climbed to her feet.

"You okay?"

Shepard nodded as she bent and unbent her legs, "Yeah, just sat like that too long, my knees stiffened up."

Ash just nodded, though Jane couldn't see her, as Shepard set the bottle and towel on a side table and laid Kaidan back into his crib, fussing with everything until it was just the way it was supposed to be.

Ashley stepped up beside her, resting her head on the Commander's shoulder and folded her arms around the other woman's waist when she got him settled, "It still amazes me that we are parents."

Jane wrapped an arm around her wife's shoulders as she nodded, "It's scary as hell, but in a good way."

Ash just tightened her embrace in agreement before pulling back slightly, "We should get some sleep."

A smile spread across Shepard's face as she caressed her wife's cheek and kissed her gently, the smile more of a smirk as she pulled away, "Wouldn't want you to get jealous."

Ashley just shook her head slightly, the slight upturn of her lips betraying her smile, as she intertwined her fingers with Shepard's and led the way back to the bedroom.
