Prologue

Life isn't perfect, that's a fact I know better than anything. Nothing ever happens the way you want it to. Often enough it happens the way in which you would never expect. Everyone expects that people's lives are to be somewhat perfect in one way or another, the world isn't perfect, nothing is. Not you, not I, not even your favourite book.

Everything has flaws. Flaws and mistakes.

Both flaws and mistakes can cost people everything.

My life is filled with them.

Being a teenager isn't easy, there are so many different hoops that you have to jump through. You have to maintain a perfect grade throughout school, you need to have a large group of friends with which you socialise, you need to know people from other schools, and you need to attend parties. Oh and most of all you need to be pretty.

All of those necessities are ones which I cannot fulfil. I have friends but only a small group, I dragged them down with me. But we're still friends, popularity isn't everything.

Being a fifteen year old girl is probably the hardest element of your life at that point. The constant everlasting drama and emotional upset consumes you. Nothing is ever little, everything is a huge issue to you.

Being a fifteen year old girl sucks.

I guess I should tell you my name, Bella Swan. My friends call me Bells.

I'm not the most popular girl at school. Scratch that I am not popular in any way shape or form. I am probably one of the most hated people in the school. And all because of one mistake I made a few months ago.

That one mistake cost me everything, my friends, my popularity and my confidence. All because of one guy and some girls who would bow down to him.

They cost me everything.
