Hijikata sighed as he placed down his brush and rubbed his temples, lately it had been very quiet around HQ. The demon thought that quiet was what he always wanted, but it turns out that he misses the noise of a certain man barging into his room. He held his head in his hands and stared at the forms infront of him as he remembered a night, it happened a couple years ago but the time since then had passed much to quickly, his only wish was that he could have more.
The day had been beautiful and the sun was just about to set, it was perfect. He heard someone say 'I do' and a pair of lips pressed up against his. They walked hand in hand back to their room and spent that night in eachothers arms. Then suddenly he snapped back to reality as he heard the most terrifying sound. He turned to look at the younger man from his flashback only to see him coughing up blood.
He rushed to his side and held him. "Soji, are you okay?" His voice was shaky, for years he had been watching as the man he loved kept getting weaker.
Soji smiled up at him. "Nee, Hijikata-san... Do you remember our wedding night?" His voice was weak and barely a whisper. "Could we be like that again? One last time." He went into another coughing fit, the blood was getting brighter with every cough.
Hijikata sat cross legged and brought the other man onto his lap once he had finished coughing. "Of course we can." He said as he held him and tried to hold back the tears. He wiped the blood from his mouth before gently kissing him.
Soji had his ear pressed up against the mans chest as he listened to his heartbeat, he smiled and tried to hold the kiss but ended up going into another coughing fit, more blood landed on the floor as color drained fom his face. It had never been this bad and they both knew it, he gripped the vice-commanders clothes. "I'm... I'm s-so... sorry." He said as he coughed once more. He gave him the fakest smile as he tried to cheer the older man up. "I-Im... going to... rest now."
Hijikata nodded. "A-Alright, I'll be right here if you need me." He tried to smile but tears started falling as the younger man fell asleep in his arms, he hugged him tightly and stroked his hair. Several minutes later he could feel his breathing slow and eventually come to a stop, for the first time since he was a child,he cried. Soji Okita was dead.
