A/N: Leave it to me to fool around instead of studying.

I wrote this little story after listening to "Just died in your arms" by Cutting Crew so it's a bit (a very small bit) influenced by that song. This is far from my best work, but I decided to publish it anyway, because it's still something that I wrote and I cherish everything I write.

I tried to tap into the Edolas universe a bit, and hopefully, it didn't turn out that bad...

Disclaimer: I don't own FT nor the song this story was based on.

His Majesty, the king of the almighty Edolas, Jellal, found himself sitting on the edge of the bed, his hands supporting his throbbing head. He entwined his fingers with the cerulean locks, pulling as hard as he could, trying to ease the pain, but to no avail. The blasted headache didn't go away.

Yesterday, it was the king's birthday, so the captains decided to throw him a party at Fairy Tail's headquarters. He, of course, refused, saying that he appreciated the gesture but would rather spend his birthday in comfortable peace and quiet (Jellal had barely managed to convince the members of the council that 'no, he didn't need a dance party in which he would choose his wife, the future queen of Edolas'), but they literally dragged him there, and then they started celebrating and drinking. Damn, did they drink! He can't remember the last time (if ever) he drank like that. And this is not what worries him the most. Oh, no, the fact that he, the king of the almighty Edolas, got so wasted he doesn't even remember how did he return to the palace (he would have to make sure later that no scandals were caused), doesn't worry him at all. Worse comes to worse, he can always blame it all on Hughes and Sugarboy (it was their fault, anyway). The explanation as to why Jellal is currently cursing silently and swearing he won't drink alcohol ever again can be found lying on the other side of the bed, crimson hair spilling all over her pillow.

Yes.

He slept with Erza Knightwalker.

Their relationship was… rocky (this being a mild understatement). It took them two and a half years to start communicating normally, without her sarcastic and cynical remarks to which he would, with almost the same amount of hostility, reply by comparing her to Erza Scarlet (which seemed to annoy Knightwalker very much). She never really liked him from the beginning, and he couldn't help but attack her too, in order to protect himself. And even though he wasn't that close to Erza of the Earthland (he wasn't that close to anyone from Earthland, due to the very well known reasons), he still felt hurt by the way Erza of the Edolas treated him.

She did start to respect him more after the incident with one of the neighboring countries suddenly attacking. He handled the situation calmly but quickly, and even joined the front lines of the battlefield himself (to the dismay of many council members). She had to admit that she was impressed, and that Jellal might not be a weak and pathetic king after all… Still, a year had passed and their relationship hadn't progressed since.

So to say that he was utterly dumbfounded this morning waking up with one of his hands around Erza's slim waist and the other one on her head, more precisely, gently grabbing her soft hair and pulling her closer, would be a huge understatement. He tried, hard, to remember how all of this had happened, but all that came to his mind was being dragged to the palace by Gray and Natsu, who seemed to be a bit tipsy themselves (Natsu was complaining how Lucy doesn't love him at all and is just using him as a sandbag, and Gray violently nodded, adding that "At least she uses you for something! Juvia-chan refuses to even look at me if I don't 'strip down a little'! I have a bad blood circulation, it's not my fault!"). Jellal felt a bit sorry for the guys, but was too tired to utter a word. He had to thank Lucy later, if he remembered, for sending someone with him, though it was probably for her own good. Lucy was a smart girl and she probably knew they'd be in big trouble had the news of their king exiting Fairy Tail's headquarters in that state broke out.

Gray and Natsu simply shoved the drunk man into his room and left right away, probably not wanting to be caught sneaking around the king's chambers. They left so fast that they didn't even notice that Erza (Jellal had no idea how she ended up in his room) was there, lying on Jellal's bed. He remembered trying to wake her up, but after that, it was all a blur.

It could have been because of the amount of drinks they both had. Maybe it was something she said. It may have even started as an accidental touch or kiss, and then grew into something more; he didn't know.

But he regretted it.

He regretted it, and the reason why made his head hurt even more. He regretted not remembering. Her scent, her sound, the way their bodies danced with each other… He couldn't remember and it was eating him inside, because he knew that he might never get another chance to be with her. And he sure as hell wanted it.

Jellal couldn't deny that there was always something between them, some kind of connection, but he always simply dismissed it, believing it was only his imagination. The heat boiling inside of him during their fights was dismissed as anger, while in fact, it was passion. The need to defend himself was actually the need to stand on the same ground as her, to prove himself worthy of her attention. The happiness he felt when she finally acknowledged him, after all that time, wasn't simply the happiness of a king who was accepted by his knight. It was something more.

Sighing, he slowly got up, trying not to wake the dangerous beauty up. The slaughter would be postponed for later. He sneaked into the bathroom, deciding that a cold shower just might help. Jellal entered the bathroom not even bothering to look at the beautiful woman lying on his bed. If he did, he would have seen that she was wide awake (probably the whole time he was awake too), her face almost the same color as her hair, wearing an expression that could mean anything from embarrassment to pure anger. And through her head passed thoughts similar to his.

This was just the beginning for the two of them.
