Lost in the eluding shadows
Chapter 1
Drifting
Everyone was asleep on the Destiny's bounty. The old ship sails through the sky gracefully. All lights, but one, were off. A blonde haired teenager stood in the bathroom, sat down with his back against the door, hugging his knees. His eyes were bloodshot from the tears that flowed like a waterfall, never ending. After his father's loss, he isolated himself, hated himself, put the whole blame on himself.
It wasn't his fault. Everybody kept telling him that it was his fathers choice to banish himself to the cursed realm. However, the green ninja refused to listen. He couldn't bring himself to notice how his friends were trying to support him. Leaving him food outside his room, bringing him his favourite drink, snack etc...
However, he had been having…urges. Urges he wishes to suppress. These dark thoughts corrupted his mind, clouding his judgement. He wished for them to stop, he really did.
Sometimes, we let the darkness in our minds take over.
Lloyd slowly stood up and locked the bathroom door. His breathing was quick and shallow, yet his whole body language remained calm, almost relaxed. He reached for the medicine cupboard and found a pack of razor blades. Subtly, he smiled to himself, knowing what he wanted to do, and how to do it.
Suddenly, he snapped his head around,as if he could hear someone. There was a voice in the back of his head, telling him to remain strong, to keep his chin up, to never lose himself.
These are words his father had said to him before.
'I'm so sorry father, I can't take it anymore' Lloyd thought to himself. Suddenly, he heard knocking on the door. In a fit of panic, he threw the razor in the bin and flushed the toilet, running the faucet after as to give the impression he had just used the toilet. He heard footsteps walk away from the door, waiting until they got quieter, his whole body tense. After he heard a satisfying 'click' of the door, he sighed and got the razor from the bin. He stood in front of the sink and held the blade against his wrist, the corner digging into his skin. Slowly, he dragged it across his wrist, small beads of blood forming on the newly found wound.
He did this all the way up his left arm, each laceration getting ever so slightly deeper. When Lloyd finally stopped, he was satisfied with his work and proceeded to clean up his wrist. He found a small first aid kit inside the bathroom cupboard and bandaged up his wrist after using saline solution to clean out the wound. He slowly crept back to bed. Being a ninja has its perks.
His clock read 4:27am, two hours before him and the other ninja had to be awake. They usually woke up early to start early morning exercise. Lloyd shuddered at the thought of this. Quietly, he managed to climb into bed, pull the over his body, and somehow managing to sleep.
—x—x—-x—-x—-x-x-x—-
There was a loud blaring in the room, a group of 5 teenagers all groaning in hopes of the alarm breaking. Lloyd slowly got up and turned off the alarm.
"Alright guys, you heard the alarm. Get up" he clarified to the other ninja. He earned a couple of glances and glares from the others, but he couldn't care less. Stretching, he noticed how somebody got a gentle grip on Lloyd's left wrist. Lloyd's eyes followed the arm to its owner, only to see it was none other than,
"Kai? You good ?" The green ninja asked, looking at the red ninja very confused.
"What happened to your wrist?" Kai asked quietly, noticing the bandage on Lloyd's wrist.
His body subtly tensed at the thought, but responded "I saw a stray cat the other day and it scratched me. The scratches reopened and bled. Sorry for making you worry."
Kai didn't look convinced, but he decided not the press the matter. "It's fine. C'mon. Sensei will kill us if we're not all ready." Kai said, gently lowering Lloyd's arm, giving him a concerned glance.
"Okay." Lloyd simply responded, a blank expression on his face. He made his way to the bathroom and got changed into his green gi, making his way to the upper deck. Everyone was already sparring. Cole vs Jay and Zane vs Nya. Kai was sat on the side-lines.
"Ready to go?" Kai asked, cocking his head to the side, ushering Lloyd to join him.
Lloyd simply nodded and begun his sparring match with Kai, easily losing. Kai walked over and pulled Lloyd up.
"What's up? Not like you to be out of your game." Kai asked with concern.
"It's nothing." Lloyd mumbled, sitting on the bench.
"Thinking about your dad?" Kai asked, doing the same.
"Yeah." Lloyd responded sadly, looking up at the sky.
"It'll be alright in time. Don't worry." Kai replied in a reassuring voice slowly starting to rub Lloyd's back.
If only it was that simple...
Ayyyy. So this has changed. I didn't like how my writing was 4 years ago so I'm going through all the chapters and making them better. In my opinion anyways ahah XD
