The young Kirigakure nin slowly lifted his head, everything in a dream like daze. As far as the eye could see was a pure, misty white color, warm air surrounding him. "Hng..." his eyes darted around, not fully comprehending the situation at hand. Not to mention his memory was fuzzy, as well.
"I..." Haku stammered, flinching slightly as he lustered up the strength to prop himself up on his elbows. What had just happened? He could briefly recall a boy, a boy fairly close in age to himself, judging by his build and height. Memories began to flood back to the brunette, his chocolate brown eyes gleaming with tears. "Zabuza-San..." he breathed, gradually pulling himself up to his feet. "I... Your tool, failed you..." he lifted his hand, whipping his eyes. The boy stared at what appeared to be the ground, which was actually just a soft, snow like substance. He couldn't put his finger on what it was made out of, though.
He let out a tiny, shaky sigh, unaware as the mist in the air began to clear, a sudden cold draft rushing past him. "Eh..?" he lifted his head slightly, abruptly throwing his hands over his mouth. "Z-Zabuza-San...?" he mused more to himself than the figure in the distance. Could it really be? All too soon, the brunette was unexpectedly filled with anger and disappointment towards himself. He let Zabuza die, it was his fault.
The figure came closer, it's features becoming more define. It was, in fact, the Demon of Kirigakure.
"..." the man let his gaze shift around just a bit, before slowing to a stop in front of his comrade.
Haku tilted his head up to his 'Master', joy, anger, and letdown all flooding into him once more, tears falling yet again. It was fine if he died, but, to have the one he cherished most.. The one he truly looked up to, for him to die as well...
"Haku.." A quiet voice sounded, forcing him out of his thoughts.
The boy's lip quivered.
A modest, crooked smile twitched across the older male's face as he kneeled down to his height. "What you did was brilliant... Haku." he praised, all former blood and wounds gone from his body. Without hesitation, he wrapped his arms around the other, closing his eyes.
The younger boy let out a choked sob, this time out of pure happiness, nothing else. "Zabuza-San.. I..." he stammered, burying his head in the taller's shirt. "...I'm Happy.." he whispered, cracking a small smile himself.
Zabuza said nothing, just held him close. After a few minutes, he finally brought himself to reply. "I know, kid.. I know."
They could truly spend the rest of eternity together, just what Haku had wanted.
