Red Dawn

"Fear, fire, foes, Awake!"

"Now for wrath, now for ruin; Ride now for the Red Dawn! DEATH!"

We were born with the light of the sun, awakened from our dreams with light like a horn call. We woke and found the wonders of this world. They who woke in starlight found us and taught us and beside them joined battle. We were young, we were brave, we are the Secondborn. Our dawn was red.

Now, now there is now dawn, at least for men. He, the Nameless, has covered our lands in darkness. Just as our lord Steward Denathor told us. It is the ninth hour and I am forced to write this by candle light. I am not soldier, I am a scholar, a scribe, a poet. But ever as my fathers did, I look for the dawn. Dawn will not come, Rohan has not come. Only darkness, only orcs, and those dark men from the south.

We are scattered, divided, leaderless, dawnless. I love not the sward for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness. But for that which they defend. Farewell to this whitecity soon to run red, farewell to the words so carefully preserved, farewell to Gondor.

They are coming, they are coming, coming. We are dawnless, dawnless, dawnless. There is no hope now for men.

This text was found one the person of a man of Gondor who died defending the gates. None were able to put a name to him so respectfully I ask that you add this page to our history in the memory of all who died during that last conflict between the Nameless Evil and the White City of Gondor.

Your humble servant,

If it looks or sound familiar, it's not mine. Opening quote from the movie, and quote from Faramir used out of context.
