Heart of Stone

You may not care about others

You may dislike people in general

You may be antisocial

But through your heart of stone

I see you, wanting to help others in distress

Taught and trained well through young adulthood

Bad childhood, separated from those you've cared about the most

Afraid of losing me, if we befriended

Through your heart of stone, I understand this

Through others, you're at times misunderstood

Blowing off others with the casual "Whatever…"

Often alone, and in thought

You think about your future often

Through your heart of stone

I know you want to keep busy without thinking too much

Your icy stare may scare most people

Your aloof and uncaring manner says to most that you're a "jerk"

Your lack of words make them feel ignored

Through your heart of stone, I just know

I just feel like I can help you somehow

Blow me off, but it won't work

Your hawk eye gaze doesn't intimidate me too much

You may not speak very much, but I know you're a good listener

Through your heart of stone, it's not really like that to me

More like fragile glass, to shatter and damage anyone in its path

Transparent, and almost obvious
