"Black." He said as he entered the common room causing the whole room to stop and stare as he, the King of Slytherin, walked toward me, the youngest of the Black sisters. We had never had a conversation before, nor had we ever shown an interest in the other, or at least I hadn't. He was at the top of the food chain with my eldest sister, also the craziest, right next to him. They weren't romantic in anyway, or friendly for that matter, they were more like competitors, competing for the best marks, best dates, best everything. I stayed in the back watching everything happen not caring for being at the top, while my other sister gallivanted with the Hufflepuffs she had befriended.
"Black. Can I speak to you?" It wasn't a question as much as it was a command.
"Do I have a choice, Malfoy?" I questioned, not making a move to get out of my chair that I occupied every night with my novel of chocie.
"Alone." His tone was harsh, and his ice blue eyes were impossible to read.
"Oh." I said startled by his request. As we moved outside the common room, he continued to walk into an empty classroom, waiting for me to follow. When I entered the room he shut the door and silently cast a charm of sorts on the room as he locked the door.
"Have you received word from your parents?" What an odd thing for him to ask me, and have to make me go into an abandoned classroom with him of all places. "I'm assuming from your silence you have not?"
"Lucius Malfoy, why do you, of all people in this school, care if I have received word from my parents? You have never spoken a word to me before nor have you ever taken any notice of me during your competition to be the best against my sister who just graduated last year."
"Why do I of all people care? Do you have no clue why I care, honestly Black I heard you were one of the brightest witches in your year."
"Yes, I have no clue. Please Malfoy, enlighten me." What's with the questions and the oddness of the whole ordeal? Honestly. Oh, wait a second.
"Our parents have arranged for us to be married, the June you graduate from Hogwarts."
"Us. As in... as is... you and me? Why?" Of all the purebloods I could get stuck with it has to be him. The playboy of Slytherin, the King, the only Malfoy heir.
"What's with that tone, Black? I thought you of all the Black daughters would feel honored to be 'engaged' to me. After all your family is in a bit of a financial struggle, and you're going to be married to the wealthiest and purest of all the bachelors in Britain." He said with a smirk on his face. Git.
"Well Malfoy, is that all you wished to talk to me about?" Please dear Merlin say yes.
"No. I wished to discuss the process of the arrangement." Why does he have to discuss this with me? It's been embedded in my brain since I was a fetus that when I graduate I would get married and have a pureblooded heir and live a perfect life that at the same time is all a lie.
