Emily and Robert want to Chicago O'Hare Airport. They were boarding a flight to Miami to go to a convention he was attending.
After checking in, they went to their gate. It was in a circular area, the middle of which had a water fountain.
"How do you feel, Emily?"
"So far, so good."
"Remember your breathing exercises. Do you need those tranquilizers?
"No. I'll try to go without them."
"Good girl!"
They sat down and relaxed. Robert read the newspaper and Emily did a crossword puzzle.
Suddenly, there was an announcement on the PA system:
"This is a special announcement for passenger on Eastern Airlines flight 173 to Miami scheduled to leave at 12:30: There will be a one hour delay, due to a mechanical problem with the plane. We regret the inconvenience, and hope to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you."
"Now, I'm not all right!"
"Emily, you remember Howard told you things like that are pretty common. Just relax, and we'll eventually get to Miami without problem."
"Yeah, I guess you're right."
They continued sitting and waiting. 15 minutes later, there was another announcement:
"This is an announcement for passengers on Eastern flight 173 for Miami: The delay will now be two hours. This is due to mechanical problems. We regret the delay, and ask for your patience. Thank you."
"Now, I need the pills!"
"OK, go ahead and take them."
She got up and went to a drinking fountain. After taking the pills, she sat back next to Robert.
"I feel much better, now."
"Good."
"This is an announcement for passengers on Eastern flight 173 to Miami:"
"I DON'T feel better!"
"Due to continuing mechanical problems, the delay will now be three hours. We are now offering $3 lunch vouchers, good for anywhere in the airport, and we thank you for your patience."
She got up. "That's it! I'm not going!"
"Emily, you're being irrational!"
"I know!"
"Calm down! They're offering free lunch. Maybe you'll feel better after we've eaten."
"I'll feel better when I'm home!"
"Emily!"
She walked over to the middle area, where the fountain was. He followed her. She slipped her shoes off.
"You wouldn't!," he said.
She climbed into the fountain!
"You would!"
The water was about a foot deep. She waded around in it and finally lied down, completely soaking herself!
"OK, I guess I'm going to Miami by my self!"
Suddenly, there was another announcement:"
"This is a boarding announcement for passengers on Eastern flight 173 to Miami: We are pleased to announce that the mechanical issue is now resolved, and we will begin boarding procedures shortly. Please be ready at gate I-15. Thank you."
Emily got out of the fountain and put her shoes back on. "Let's go!"
A lot of people stared at her, while she got on the plane!
