Lurking
A/N: Based off a review given to me by Verdad-y-Vida (thank you, by the way!) I do not own NCIS.
Ziva stood up on her tiptoes and lightly placed her lips upon Tony DiNozzo's cheek. She didn't quite know what compelled her to do so, but it just felt…right. It wasn't the first time she had kissed Tony, but for once, this was real.
She pulled away from him. He grabbed her shoulders and for a split second, she thought he would kiss her. But no, instead he went on a tangent about being a cop. She assumed it had something to do with the current case he was working. That DiNozzo-intuition was something unbeatable. Whatever his hunch was, it was probably right.
After he left, Ziva leaned against the wall of the men's room and put her fingertips to her lips. What had she just done?
Suddenly a flush sounded from one of the stalls. Ziva's face turned bright red and she prayed it wasn't Gibbs or McGee. Unfortunately, Leon Vance stepped out from the stall, eyeing Ziva suspiciously.
"Director," Ziva nodded towards him respectfully.
"David," he in turn nodded, "Next time you and Agent DiNozzo decide to participate in these little shenanigans, do it in a more…discreet place."
"Yes sir."
"And David, next time, go for the lips."
Ziva's face burned with embarrassment as Leon exited the restroom, leaving her behind drowning in her humiliation. What did I just do?
--
"Leon knows," Ziva said as she poured herself a cup of coffee. Tony took the pot from her and tilted his head to the side.
"Knows what?"
They had been completing mountains of paperwork since Ziva's return and this was her first night back. Gibbs had greeted her with stacks of files and they had been sitting in silence for the past hour, smiling once in awhile at each other. McGee seemed almost Giddy but Tony had been…relaxed? It was as if he were at home.
They hadn't spoken except for Tony's, "welcome back, Zi."
"Leon knows that I…I kissed you."
His eyes practically bulged from their sockets, "What was he doing? Lurking in a stall somewhere?"
"Yes. It was…humiliating. What made it worse is what he said afterwards."
"What did he say?"
"He told me…oh God, I can't believe I am actually saying this but, he told me that…next time…to go for your…um…lips."
Tony nearly choked on his coffee, "WHAT?"
"Yeah. Humiliating, right?"
"Very."
A silence fell over them and Ziva was about to excuse herself back to her desk when Tony stopped her.
"Hey, Zi."
"Yeah?"
"Maybe next time…you should take his advice. He is the Director afterall."
Ziva smirked before turning away and heading back to her desk.
"I'll have to keep that in mind…for next time."
