~Human love is often but the encounter of two weaknesses.~

.

Break hates himself for admitting to his weakness – but as soon as he feels her small, warm, body pressed next to him the bitterness calmly washes away. Unconsciously he leans closer, burrowing his face shamelessly in her hair, asking for something only she can give to him. A peace of mind. And maybe it's selfish. Maybe he is only using her for his own comfort – to ease the stabs of guilt that constantly prod his consciousness – but she doesn't mind. His little Sharon. His precious little princess who might not be quite so little any more.

He had never considered the possibility that she would one day grow up. He never once dreamed that she would be the one soothing him in the end. But he supposed that only meant he'd been blind all along. Because it was always her at his side, easing him into the world with her gentle encouragement, lending her shoulder for him to balance on, holding him on his feet when he couldn't bear to stand by himself, so lonely and awkward. And he clutches her close to him out of fear and selfishness and knows that he'll never let go – not for the world.

He feels her tilt her chin ever so slightly – the only thing she'll ever purposely ask out of him. And when she allows him to place his lips so chastely upon hers, he does not demand anything more from her. Perhaps it is merely his way of trying to atone for his greediness by stifling his own desires.

Or perhaps this is simply all he needs.
