12 year old Paige Michalchuck had been trying on outfits all morning trying to find the perfect thing to wear to
school.
"What do you think?" she asked her best friend Hazel Alden. Hazel thought for a moment. "Do you think its a bit much?"
Paige looked at her combination of a hot pink top and jean miniskirt. To her she looked fine.
She had been dreaming about this day all summer. She was finally going to Junior High which more classes with boys.
Deciding the outfit was fine the girls went downstairs to eat breakfast.

Denise Mason watched as her son Gavin practically inhale his breakfast.
"Mom can you tell him to stop?"asked her adopted daughter Kendra.
"What?" Gavin asked revealing the half eaten eggs in his mouth.
Denise just shook her head. It had been six months since the death of her husband Bill and the family
was surviving day by day without him.
"Gavin, please chew your food."
Gavin mumbled something that sounded like "didn't even do anything".

Terri Mcgregor stared at herself in the mirror. Even though her dad told her constantly shes beautiful, she never felt it.
That's because unlike the other girls who could fit into size two jeans, Terri had hers a few pants bigger. She was what most
people would call:fat.
"Are you ready yet?" her dad asked from behind the door.
Terri sighed and prepared herself for the first day of school and prayed no one noticed her.

Its going to be okay Ashley Kerwin told herself as her mom drove her to school.
Ashley had nervous about this day for months. Even though she was excited about starting Junior High, Ashley couldn't
help but wonder if the kids were gonna like her or not.
"You all right kiddo?" her mom asked her from the drivers seat.
Ashely nodded.

Jimmy Brooks and Gavin Mason stood in front of Degrassi Community School felling 20 inches smaller.
"Are we really going in there?" Gavin asked.
Jimmy chuckled "Its just one school Spinner" he said using his friends nickname "what could possibly happen here?"
