The small town of Smallville was known for the weird and unexplained. More specifically, Clark Kent was particularly used to being surrounded by the 'impossible' but was nonetheless still surprised when a massive vortex appeared not 10 feet away from him.
Squinting, he watched as four people fell out from the vortex and the vortex proceed to close. Curious but not wishing to be seen, he hid from the travelers and listened.
"Mr. Brown! Must you always land on me?" The professor bellowed to his neighbor. The man merely shrugged, claiming it was once again an accident.
"Alright guys - that's enough. How long until we slide?" Wade asked.
"It looks like we only have about half an hour here. Which is a shame since this place looks pretty decent." Mallory responded while looking around. The group started walking down the road, searching for a typical San Francisco or LA landmark. "This is strange. If I were to guess, I'd say we were in-" Quinn cut himself off as the group passed a sign, "Kansas."
The group froze, staring at the Welcome to Smallville sign. "Wait a minute, I'm confused. I thought we only landed in San Francisco or LA." Rembrandt commented.
"Well, it appears on this world either continental drift behaved radically differently or Kansas is in a different part of the country." The professor shrugged. "But the name Smallville...I've heard it before..."
"I know what you mean. It's ringing a bell like I should know but for some reason it's eluding me." Quinn responded, deep in thought.
Wade laughed at the two. "I'll tell you guys on the next world."
Clark didn't know what to make of the interaction. From what he heard, these people were traveling to different worlds but at the same time they all seemed to variations of the same world. Still curious, he followed to the group into the Talon.
"Could we get 4 cups of coffee?" Wade asked as she approached the register. The group took their coffees and proceeded to sit down, observing the town around them.
"Clark!" Clark heard Lois belch from the stares. He shut his eyes, slightly embarrassed. "What are you doing here? I thought you had chores all day?" She questioned him.
"I do but I figured it would be okay to take a coffee break, Lois." Clark responded. The sliders looked onto the two argue. Both the professor and Quinn looked confused, while Wade looked knowingly and Rembrandt looked as though he could care less.
"Alright, well, while your breaking you wanna read over my article?" Lois asked, her voice suddenly a lot less menacing.
"Sure Lois." Clark responded and sat down to help his friend out.
"This is all so - familiar." Quinn pointed out, his eyebrows furrowed in frustration.
"Lois and Clark...why does that sound..." The professor began to ramble and then his eyes got wide. "That paper there, let me see that Mr. Brown." Rembrandt shrugged his shoulders and tossed the professor his paper.
"Oh my god Professor? Is it possible?" Quinn asked.
"Apparently it is. We've landed on a world where Superman exists." The professor exclaimed.
"Of course we did, and we only have three minutes left." Quinn noted as he led the others outside. "I can't believe we saw Superman!" Quinn failed to notice Clark had got up from his seat and followed the group outside. He was again alarmed by the formation of a vortex.
"Hey! Who are you people?" Clark asked the Sliders.
"We're from a parallel Earth. We're huge fans though. I hope everything works out with Lois!" Quinn responded before jumping into the vortex after his friends.
The End
Clark merely stood back and watched as the vortex closed, his mouth wide. "Huh?"
