"No!" Edward screamed, his automail arm flinging out in front of him. "I won't! It's total suicide!" His blonde bangs shook in front of his closed eyes.
Roy sighed, closing his eyes as he tilted his head to the ceiling. "You're hopeless, an idiot. I thought you liked to help people, make them happy." He looked back to the sixteen-year-old boy, who was now glaring at him.
"This is different you pompous idiot, and you know that." Ed crossed his arms across his chest, his golden eyes never leaving the Colonel's.
"How so? If you do this it will make that one person happy, filled with joy. Isn't that what everyone aims for during this Holiday? To make their loved ones happy?"
"What about me? If I do it I won't be happy and filled with joy." Ed countered.
"Well, I don't care for you like that." He replied simply, turning his back to the boy.
Ed's face flared as his fists clenched. "And who exactly do you care for like that?" He asked, containing his temper.
Silence.
"Oh, so there is someone." A smirk spread across the alchemist's face. "Who may she, or he, be?"
Roy's back was still to Edwards, his mouth sealed as he faced the dark wall. There wasn't much room in this area, it being a small closet. There wasn't much light either, just a bulb hanging from the rotting ceiling. "None of your business." He answered in a monotone voice.
"Alright, enough gloom." The blonde boy said after more silence, a bit of irritation in his voice. He placed a hand on the Colonel's shoulder and spun him around, looking him strait in the eyes. "If you like this person so much, then why don't you fill their life with joy and happiness? It shouldn't be too hard…right?"
Mustang looked at the boy before him for a few seconds, motionless, soundless, and then, lifting his right arm, he pushed him away, the young alchemist taking a few steps to catch his balance.
"Hey, watch it!" Ed screamed as he was flung against the wall. He was about to speak again when two hands were slammed against the wall behind him, each only an inch from each side of his face. "What…what are you doing…Colonel?" He asked, the man's face only inches from his.
"You said…you said that I should do the dare, right? And that I should make the one person I care for joyful and happy, correct?"
Edward nodded, sweat dripping down his face, a strange sensation running down his spine as he felt his superior's warm breath brush across his lips.
"Then, will you let me? Will you let me make you happy and…and joyful?" There was a painful look in the man's eyes, one that the young boy had never before seen.
"C-Colonel, I…" But before he could continue warm lips were placed upon his. Ed's eyes opened wide with surprise, but soon softened and closed. It was only seconds before he began to kiss back.
'Tis the season to be jolly.
