Summer has gone and passed

The innocent can never last

Wake me up

When September ends

Alfred smiled as he walked outside of his apartment complex. He put on his brown jacket, and took in a deep breath of the cool September breeze. It was the second year into a new century, and Alfred was to make sure this would be a good time.

He looked at his watch. It was only 9am. He still had some time before he had to go to work. So, Alfred decided to take a walk along the streets of New York. He was already used to the grotesque, pollution smell that he had grown up with. America was built on industry. There is nothing to compete with that.

As the clock struck 11 after, Alfred heard the sound of a plane above him. He looked up to see it was fairly close to the World Trade Center, which was only three buildings away. His eyes widened as he noticed it was a fighter plane. An E-4B1 to be exact. They were only to be used in foreign countries. And this was much to low to the ground to be doing a test run. They were stationed in Florida, anyways. Why would it come here?

Like my father's come to pass

Seven years has gone so fast

Wake me up

When September ends

Here comes the rain again

Falling from the stars

Drenched in my pain again

Becoming who we are

Screams were heard like sirens as the plane had taken a nose-dive right into the Trade Center. The top of the building boomed, and it started to smoke. Flying debris that was on fire fell from the building, crushing some innocent civilians. People started to jump out of the flaming building, some being engulfed by the enemy flames themselves.

As my memory rests

But never forgets what I lost

Alfred could only keep his breath for a split second, as a large gush of blood spewed out from his chest. He felt as if every cell in his body had shot him. The blood stained his clothes, and he fell to the floor, giving out blood-curtling screams of agony. He held the wound, letting the red liquid cover it quickly. I'm losing too much blood, Alfred thought. He figured he would die right then and there.

As he slowly closed his eyes, he hoped God would hear him, when he said,

Wake me up when September ends
