A World Apart, and Yet so close
Summary: This is just a short one shot about Kate when she is at home, after she is rescued, and Sawyer who is still on the island, how they are having the same thoughts but in two different places

She giggled as she sipped the last of the cheap beer from the glass. "You can't be serious!" She yelled at Jack as he announced his engagement to Sarah who had realized that Jack was the only one for her.
Jack nodded and Sarah held out her hand out. "So Kate, when are you thinking of tying the knot?" She asked smiling.
Kate face saddened and she looked at Jack. "Well, I was in love...once upon a time." She said smiling then she shook her head sadly.
"James Ford, was one of the eight that survived the crash, she and him were together, but he died." Jack said giving Kate a welcoming smile.
"Yeah, I don't know if I can get over it... I mean even after four years..." She looked up at the clock. 1:43 am. "Shit! I'm supposed to be home by two, I'll see you later." She said giving Jack a kiss on the cheek and Sarah a quick hug.
"She's been holding onto someone for almost five years Jack... it's not healthy." Sarah said when Kate was gone.
"Yeah, well she loved James very much, and after all he is Aaron's daddy, I mean seeing the baby everyday must be a big reminder of what they had." He said putting an arm around Sarah's waist.

He was laying in the sand his arms under his head looking up at the stars. They always reminded him of her, of how she had left him, of how much he damn loved her.
"Hello James..." John said from behind. "Mind if I take a seat?"
"Johnny boy, even after all these years on this damn island you still haven't figured out that it's a free island?" He said turning his head slightly to look at the old man.
"Well I just thought it polite to ask." HE said taking a seat.
"What do you want?" James asked after a moment.
"I want to tell you that you can talk to her...you just need to come to the radio tower with Me." he said quietly.
James looked at him. "Talk to whom?"
John looked back. "Kate, you can talk to Kate."
"Well Sgt. Pepper, take me to your lonely hearts club and maybe we can both talk to people that are gone." James stood up and walked away all the while thinking, 'God I miss her.'

She sat on her porch early that morning drinking coffee and listening to her four and a half year old son talk to her dad. She just stared at the clouds. They reminded her of him.
She went back into her house to find her dad sitting on the couch trying to get her son to listen to the Beatles, with his favourite album 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.'
"Dad, it's no use. All he listens to is Crazy Frog." She said shaking her head.
"Yeah well if I play the Beatles long enough he'll like them." He said watching as his grandson attempted to hit the 'stop' button on the stereo. Kate just laughed.
She sat down at her desk and opened her drawer fumbling with a picture of him. She put it out and set it on the desk and for some reason; she knew that he was thinking of her too. 'God I miss him'
