Ealga was born to Nora, a noblewoman, and an unknown man around fall of 7982 AC. Nora was forced to leave at all costs for unknown reasons. She forced herself to leave behind her newborn daughter behind, placing her in the care of her lifelong family friend, Galbatorix.

Galbatorix, still fairly young, accepted baby Ealga as his own. He, being king, was able to give her anything and everything- even a dragon egg. When Ealga was 10, the egg hatched before Ealga- a purple male by the name of Padraic.

Galbatorix began to teach Ealga the arts of magic, healing, riding, and the sword, and before long, Ealga was a superior magician, rider, and swordsman. With her maturity, Galbatorix allowed her to wander the city of Urû-baen alone.

Ealga knew of the Dragon War and the sad scarceness of dragons because of it. She knew what a horrible man Galbatorix was towards the people of Alagaësia, and she hated him for that. However, she couldn't truly hate him. He gave her a home, food, clothing... A chance at life.

Whilst wandering through Urû-baen one day, Ealga met an old storyteller by the name of Brom. They talked for hours, and finally, she revealed her identity. With that information, Brom informed Ealga of the new rider's existence and the rapidly approaching war between the Varden and the Empire.

Ealga wanted to join the Varden to help the people, her people, live freely. But at what cost? Galbatorix was no less than a wonderful father. How was she to chose? She was torn.

Ealga returned home and tried to convince Galbatorix to spare the people of the Varden. Outraged at her request, Galbatorix banned Ealga from leaving the castle again.

Galbatorix taught Ealga well, though, perhaps too well, for she managed to leave the castle multiple times without his knowing. Each time she met Brom, the more she wanted to help the Varden, even if it meant going against the one person she truly knew and loved- Galbatorix.

Ealga finally made her decision. She quickly informed Brom, and together, they planned her escape. She would leave during the night and make it look like a kidnapper took her. She packed some clothes, armor, books, weapons, and money in a small sack and took it with her. She silently stole some of Galbatorix's weapons and transported them to the Varden, who now awaited her, thanks to Brom. However, that night, the unknown rider entered the castle to free Arya the elf, which leads us to the beginning of an epic adventure.
