Red and black, red and black, red and black...
The alternating colors created an interesting pattern, especially with the circles on tops of the squares.
A long, slender digit reached out and touched one of the red circles, sliding it to another square, altering the design.
After a moment's hesitation, a black circle was moved, and the balance of pattern was put back.
The red circles was lifted, and when it was put down again, three black circles were gone, and the red now rested on the edge of the pattern.
An artist wailed, and placed another red circle on top of the newly-placed one. There was a laugh from the other artist.
A black circle moved, and two red circles were gone.
Merciless in design now, the artist of the red circles moved the double-stacked circle around, and five more black pieces were gone.
"Jesse!!!" James wailed as his partner removed the last of his playing pieces from the checkerboard. "That's the fifth time you've beaten me!!"
His partner grinned. "Want to play again?"
"...okay."
Red and black, red and black, red and black...
