Thoughts from one Lanie Parish

A/N: *points at LacytheDemonicDuck, Kavi Leighanna, and sarramaks* I blame these three. If I hadn't gotten hooked on their stories, I wouldn't have finally delurked myself to the point that I decided to write a story for the first time in 3 years. First Castle fic, and it's a drabble. Damn, is it a doozy or what… Anyways, I don't own anything, except this story and my annoyance towards the writers of Castle.
Summary: She didn't know who she was going to kill first: Gina for her crappy sense of timing, or Castle for being an idiot and not seeing what was right in front of him.

Lanie Parish watched as her best friend, Kate Beckett, walked out of the conference room with her partner, Rick Castle, and shut the door behind them. She knew that Kate had been battling with her feelings for Castle for a while, and knew that Kate had finally dumped Demming (thankfully) in order to tell Castle how she really felt. Lanie glanced away from the couple to look at Kate's team, Javier Esposito and Kevin Ryan, noting that they had been on the same train of thought as herself –Maybe, just maybe she's gonna fess up to that crush she's been having-. Lanie looked back out the window to watch.
Then, she walked in. Ex-wife number 2, aka Gina. His publisher.
Lanie's jaw dropped. What the hell was Castle's ex doing here? She knew he was having issues trying to get his manuscript written, hence the disappearing act to the Hamptons for the summer, but really? With the ex?
She watched as the blonde bimbo (-I mean, his publisher… damn bitch-) wrapped her hand around Castle's bicep and gave Kate that territorial look. She watched Kate withdraw from her conversation with Castle and watched him turn, with said simpering blonde attached to his arm, towards the elevators. She stood and watched as Kate turned towards her desk, snatched up her coat and bag, whispered her goodbyes to the others around her, and took off in the same direction Castle had gone. Lanie walked out of the room, watched all that had taken place, and wondered who she was going to kill first: Gina, for her crappy sense of timing, or Castle, for being an idiot and not seeing what was in front of him.
