It was just a normal day in the life of Tony Stark and friends- well, as normal as life can be for three armored superheroes.

They were battling the Mandarin after he had shown up in the city with the tenth ring claiming he would take over the world. Destroy it is more like it, thought Tony.

"This is all too much pressure, I-I can't take it anymore!" Tony exclaimed, landing in an alley on the streets below and opening his mask. Pepper followed him, sliding her own mask open.

"Why, why is this so much pressure? I don't get it, Tony! Why does it feel like you haven't been talking to me about these things lately? I'm your friend, I want to help." Pepper exclaimed.

"JUST BECAUSE, okay? On top of my dad being back, having Stark International back and stopping Gene from getting all ten rings and destroying the world I have to figure out the most obvious thing in the city that I was too stupid to see for two years, and it's because of the fact that we're friends that makes me not want to talk about it because I don't want to ruin what we have!" Tony yelled back.

"Oh, and what would that be?" Pepper retorted angrily.

"That I'm head over heels crazy in love with you!" Tony yelled. The two were instantly quiet. That was definitely not what he meant to say. He hadn't even meant to remotely hint at it. It had just sort of...come out.

"Y-you are?" Pepper asked quietly and nervously.

"Uh, yeah...y-you're really important to me, and up until now I guess I was just afraid of ruining our friendship if I ever told you how I really felt…but I'm over it." Tony responded nervously. He felt the heat in his cheeks and knew he was blushing. And by the looks if it, so was Pepper.

The two stood there in an awkward silence before War Machine buffed in.

"Hey, lovebirds! Quit your arguing and help me!" Rhodey exclaimed as he tried to fight off Mandarin.

"T-Tony, I-" Pepper began.

"NOW!" Rhodey interrupted. As much as he wanted the two to finally go out, he wanted to live even more at the moment. They could continue their moment later.

The two closed their masks and went to provide their friend with backup. There was a time and a place to talk about this, and now just wasn't either of those things.

Short one-shot, ik. I got the idea last night and personally I think it's just adorable. Then again, I think anything that goes on between them is adorable. X3 Oh well, what can ya do? Crazy is crazy…review!
