She put her palm on the back of Ichigo's hand that was on the table
Ichigo's eyes that was looking at his cup of coffee suddenly looked at her eyes
"I know that you love Kuchiki-san more than anything, but..."
She hesitated to finish her words, but she had to say it
"Kuchiki-san... has passed away and it's already 7 years. You do realize it. But i don't want to see you like this forever. I... I want to help you. Please, let me help you."
Ichigo kept staring at Inoue's eyes for another second
He knew what she meant
He put another of his hand on her, gave her a soft reassuring squeeze before he took Inoue's hand away from his.
"Thank you, Inoue. I really appreciate it
He gave her his warm smile that somehow only made Inoue felt sadder.
"Rukia... she gave her heart to me and i will protect it. Because i have to, because i want to do it. I promise to my soul that i will protect her heart forever."
His eyes softened but then a smirk appeared on his face
"I'm pretty sure Rukia would pissed off because of it..."
He paused to chuckle
"But I'll wait. I'll wait for her. Because i believe death isn't really an end. Our hearts are connected. We'll be connected again somewhere in the future. We'll find each other again. That's what i believe in."

yeah, just a drabble. i got the idea after rewatching Fade to Black TT^TT especially at the last scene where Ichigo talked to Rukia at the valley
