Fives had never really bothered any of his batch-mates, and since he and Echo mostly kept to themselves whenever they weren't training, which took up the majority of the day, they talked to each other about becoming soldiers on the front.
"You know, Echo, one day this is gonna be all over." Fives said thoughtfully.
"Yeah." Echo replied.
"Considering that we're, well, you know, with the 501st I thought about honoring Hevy." The clone said, gently rubbing his growing goatee.
"You mean becoming ARC?" Echo said, his brow furrowing together.
"Yeah, Beta ARCS*." Fives answered, keeping his eye on Captain Fordo, an Alpha ARC recently assigned, by the request of General Laws, to the 225th Legion. Considering that the 225's first battalion was called Veteran's Battalion (and more recently, the Old Way Battalion), he could see Captain Fordo fitting in with the soldiers there.
"Why not Alpha?" Echo asked. Fives considered his reply for a moment, then replied.
"Well, the Alpha ARCS are mostly used as just saboteurs, assassins, commandos, I think the Beta class could prove to us how good the first ARCS are."
"Echo, Fives!" The two soldiers shot up in surprise, and Jonathan (only when they weren't in a campaign or in combat) Laws walked over to them.
"Sir!" Echo said, saluting.
"Easy soldier. Sit down." The brunette said, his old Canadian WW2 army uniform that he'd worn from the Normandy Landings to the end of the war, still in pristine condition. He had also been a pilot, though he didn't really talk about it, since he'd apparently been a leader of a squadron that had apparently all been shot down during the dying stages of the Battle of Britain and during the early stages of the Blitz.
"Anything we can do for you sir?" Fives asked.
Jonathan chuckled. "No. Just here to chat." As the three relaxed and began talking amongst each other, Captain Fordo hid a smile. His general was a good person.
