A LONG TIME AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY...
The Republic is in debate. The growing powers of the sinister Trade Federation are causing unrest throughout the galaxy.
Using this to his advantage, Nute Gunray, the Federation's Viceroy orders a stunning attack on the desert planet of Tatooine.
Angered by this, Supreme Chancellor Valorum has dispatched the Galactic Navy, led by Captain Obi-Wan Kenobi, to end the conflict...
1: OBI-WAN KENOBI
Obi-Wan Kenobi had grown up admiring the Jedi, in all of their noble deeds, and since the age of five he'd had his heart set on joining the High Council of the Jedi.
However, none of the Jedi Masters had believed in Kenobi's determination, and passed him off as nothing more than an eager child. This had broken Kenobi's heart, and he was greatly upset. Until, Jedi Master Yoda approached him.
"One day, a Jedi will you be, young Kenobi." The aged master had croaked. "Prove yourself, you must."
These words had filled Obi-Wan with hope, and at the age of eighteen he had enlisted in the Republic Naval Academy.
For years, Obi-Wan was a devoted, and brilliant student. He showed a keen eye for military strategy, and after completing his training he graduated with high honours. Obi-Wan was then made a Captain.
On that day, Jedi Master Yoda had appeared, and again his words were the most heartfelt. They had filled Obi-Wan with a new sense of hope.
"Faith in you, I have, Obi-Wan." The master chuckled. "Someday, a great Jedi you will be."
Obi-Wan recalled these words as he sat in the cockpit of a Republic class E-Wing. Alongside his craft were two of his fellow graduates, and close friends. Myan Antillies and Celo Organa.
Celo, was the younger brother of Bail Organa, the commanding General, who had overseen many battles in this time of darkness.
Myan, was a newly-wed, and was expecting his first child any day now.
As the trio of starships closed in on the circular shape of the Trade Federation command ship, Celo forced a smile.
"Let's blow these filthy pieces of dirt back into oblivion." He laughed.
"Be careful," Obi-Wan remarked. "These Nemodians are smarter than they look. Stay on target."
The ships zoomed towards the command ship, and Celo's smile slowly began to fade.
Hundreds, if not thousands, of starfighters had burst from the planet's surface each bearing the Federation's insignia.
"We haven't much time." Obi-Wan swallowed, and he plunged his E-Wing into a straight dive.
The Federation Fighters followed, swerving in and out of line with Obi-Wan. The young captain felt the sweat begin to seep through his clothes.
He dodged a well-placed laser blast from the first fighter, and began to turn towards the command ship, when another zoomed past.
He began to rise, but the ship wasn't fast enough, and a third blast hit the small yellow R2-unit seated on the lower turret of his ship.
A fourth blast ripped apart the top gun turret, and a fifth hit one of the engines.
Obi-Wan's fighter began to spin out of control, and with one last thrust of power, he launched his ship towards the planet below.
"Celo! Myan!" He roared into his headset. "I'm hit! I'm going down! Follow Plan 761-C! Copy!"
"Copy that, Red Leader." Myan replied.
"Meet us at rendezvous point seven." Celo finished.
"Understood," Kenobi spluttered. "Obi-Wan out!"
As Obi-Wan descended to 8, 000, 000 feet the Federation Fighters turned back to the battle above. It seemed backup had finally arrived.
Obi-Wan smiled, as his ship entered the atmosphere of Tatooine. He was a much better fighter on the ground. With that thought, he looked down at his graduation present from Yoda.
A lightsabre.
