-Farewell Hawkeye-

He spends his last few weeks in Korea drugged like an elephant.

If only Trapper could see him now.

Hawkeye was laying on a strange floor in a padded room, arms bent backwards into snug tight confinement.

He honestly had no idea why he was here.

Let alone what was wrong with him.

Hawkeye had always been a tad bit on the looney side but not this much.

He observed the world through a haze ridden fog.

Yet sounds seemed to get louder.

Like his door opening with more than one pairs of boots walking in.

Someone was talking.

And shouting at the other one.

A pair of feet left.

Two stayed.

"Aw Hawkeye..." He didn't know it yet but BJ Hunnicut and Margaret Houlihan were staring at him like their dog just died.

He couldn't know why.

He could hardly even think.

Although, "Sidney you rotten son of a horse mule" was floating around in there somewhere.

Every half hour someone came in and gave him another shot.

A familiar hand touched his head.

"I don't know if you can hear me but...the war is over. We can go home now."

No offense to BJ but Hawkeye was tongue tied and sluggish.

He refused to believe the words.

A life time ago Henry had told him there was a cease fire.

A 3 star General said they could all go home.

A bunch of crap.

And Trapper knew it.

He distantly wondered where the young doctor was now.

If his fate was similar to his own.

"He's too heavily sedated BJ," a woman's voice said, "He can't understand you let alone hear anything."

Now that wasn't true.

Hawkeye could hear some things.

"...Do you think he'll get better?"

"...Miracles happen everyday. We've seen it."

"Okay, well then Hawk: you're my best friend and I'll always love you...no matter how far we grow apart. I've watched you fight til your last breath to stay sane and I..." a sob. "I guess jokes don't always work. But they saved every one else Hawk. I just wanted you to know that...and...you mean a lot to us. We'll never forget you, doctor."

...where you goin Beej?

He tried to frown, tried to do anything!

DAMNIT! WHY WERE THEY LEAVING?!

Nurse?! Somebody!

...HELP!
