Full Summary:

Iruwana Kokono was eleven years old when she became the mother of her nine siblings. Their mother, a prostitute, left them so she could move on with her life. Together, the kids have lived under one roof, living with each other, surviving by any means necessary. Then Iruwana meets Lucas and Haley and immediately become best friends. With the help of Karen and the Cafe, Iruwana is able to keep her siblings fed. What happens when, six years later, their mother returns with a court order, suing Iruwana for custody of the children she abandoned? Will her friends help her fight to keep them? And how does the whole basketball team plus their parents and Whitey end up saving them from being torn apart?
