[Romantic Pairing] Alicia Spinnet and Cho Chang

It was a warm Spring day and, like the season, new beginnings were being created at Hogwarts. New couples were a big deal, mainly because students wanted something to get their minds off the Chamber of Secrets and all the events that had happened around them during their previous year.

One of these new couples was Cho Chang and Alicia Spinnet. A Ravenclaw and a Gryffindor, an unusual pairing to see. They had met after a particularly tiring Quidditch match against each other's house. Cho had caught the snitch, but Gryffindor still beat her team in the end. Alicia and Cho had made small talk in the corridors after that and had become fast friends, finding they had a lot in common.

The two were sitting by the Black Lake, shaded by a blossoming willow tree, its pink flowers fluttering down around them. A light breeze caused the petals to shift in direction, and Cho's hair to fly outwards. Alicia set it back in place, listening to the so far unheard adventures of her Ravenclaw girlfriend.

"You did what?"

"I set his book on fire." Alicia let out a barking laugh, the sound being caught in the light breeze and carried through the wind. Her lover was unpredictable, to say the least.

"Why would you do that?" Alicia asked Cho, staring at her from the corner of her eye. The spring air gave a glow to Cho's cheeks that made Alicia's heart speed up and made her feel like she was on top of the world.

"I-I don't know, I thought it would be funny." The boy the two were talking about was a Gryffindor from a year above them - he was a family friend of the Changs', having come over for the Christmas holidays.

Alicia took notice of how Cho's hair blew in the gentle spring breeze, or how her cheeks were flushed the same shade of pink as the flowers that started to bloom this time of year.

"Are you sure you're a Ravenclaw?" Alicia asked after a second or so of silence, her eyes gleaming as she asked the question.

"Of course I'm a Ravenclaw, what in Merlin's name makes you ask me if I'm not?" Cho was, admittedly, a little shocked by this statement. She was top of her class and got good marks on every test she took. This was only instance of her doing something even remotely rebellious.

"That sounds like something I, a Gryffindor student, would do. It sounds like a prank the Weasley twins would pull. It does not sound like something you, a timid Ravenclaw, would do." Cho just rolled her eyes at the other girl's reasoning, watching as the wind carried her girlfriend's hair all over the place, petals from the tree above them falling onto the tops of both of their heads.

"Oh be quiet, it was one time." Cho said, her laughter being muffled due to the Giant Squid splashing around in the lake, as it enjoyed doing in the springtime. It was the one season that the Giant Squid appeared, other times preferring to stay in the deeper depths of the lake.

"Whatever you say." Alicia laughed as Cho playfully punched her, giving a glare that was contradicted by her growing smile. The two were happy in that moment, in that Spring marked with new beginnings for the both of them. They were happy, they were safe, they were in love…

It was all they would ever need.
