My first one shot! Yay! I wrote this on the 25/2/13.

Disclaimer: I don't own the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

The company had stopped to rest for a night. The fire blazed, luminating the cave dug into the side of a hill. Bilbo was talking quietly about his garden at Bag-End to cast his eyes about, landing on a small patch of wildflowers. Standing up, he went over and plucked them from the grass before going back to Bilbo.

"What have you got there?"asked Bilbo, straining to see in the darkness.

"Flowers, thought you could put them in your hair" answered Bofur gruffly. "Could you help me?" said Bilbo shyly.

"Of course" said Bofur.

Bilbo turned around so that his hair faced Bofur. Bofur began to wind them into Bilbos hair. Across the fire Fili and Kili had noticed their activity. The two got up and sneaked over, bringing the whole company's attention to Bilbo and Bofur. Teasingly, they began some inquirys.

"Courting our burglar we see" Kili remarked to Bofur. Bilbo blushed, realizing that he had forgotten to tell a Bofur that putting flowers in another's hair that is not of kin to you is a sign of courtship. Bofur too, was blushing. Bofur had neglected to inform Bilbo it was a sign of wanting to court someone if you braided their hair unless you are of kin.

"Surely you have not forgotten yourself" Fili stage-gasped.

Bombur could hardly contain his guffaws as Bilbo and Bofur blushed redder than ever. Balin and Gandalf shared secretive smiles, having started a bet with the company which Balin and Gandalf, as well as Bombur, Kili and Fili had just won,it seemed.

They had betted that Bilbo and Bofur were in love.

All of a sudden, Dori gasped, drawing the attention of everyone to him instantly!

Dori had seen the braids that Bofur had woven into Bilbos hair.

"They're getting married next spring!" Dori exclaimed, before promptly fainting.
