Yuna took a single step off the ship, not positive weather she really wanted to return back to Zanark. Paine strode past Yuna and glanced around the ruined city. Rikku quickly followed Paine; she too looked around cautiously, although she was bubbling with energy and anxiety. Yuna said nothing, she could only think about the last time she was here, with Tidus and the others.
"It's been a long time since I've seen a ship land here carrying such valuable cargo." A voice in the shadows said loudly, making all three girls spin around to face the darkness. For the first time Yuna spoke up.
"Who's there?" she said, her different colored eyes transfixed on the shadows. She was positive that she recognized that voice, but it couldn't be possible. Paine's grip tightened around her sword, she didn't trust whoever or whatever it was. Rikku seemed more interested in discovering who was there, rather then knowing if it was a threat or not.
"A friend. You don't need to worry Paine, I am no match for you." The voice said again. Paine seemed stunned, how did this voice know her name. She still did not release the grip on her sword. It was only Yuna who seemed completely relaxed.
"How do you...?" she started.
"Let's just say I know more then you would expect." Yuna began to approach the shadows, not knowing that what she was doing was right. A hand touched her face. It was cold but strangely soft and familiar. A face appeared out of the darkness. A young looking man appeared, he had light blond hair, which was shorter than Tidus' but still hung out messily. His eyes were stark blue and a scar hung above his left eye.
"Kileney!" she sighed, suddenly her eyes widened angrily. "You're dead!" she said raising her voice. The man paused for a moment, contemplating what to say next. The he glanced up at Paine and Rikku.
"It's not safe for us here, we have to leave now." He ordered and took Yuna by the hand leading her back on board. Rikku shrugged and followed the others. Paine, however, waited for a moment; she couldn't understand why everyone was willing to trust a complete stranger. But she returned to the ship as well.
In the light of the ship Kileney's outfit seemed unbelievably strange compared to the others. He wore a light sparkling blue short-sleeved T- shirt that hung loosely off his chest. A pair of silver trousers were flared slightly at the bottom and they too hung loosely. A belt, which was the same color as the t-shirt, had two great chains that dangled at either side of his waist. Last but not least was a light silver cape, which swept behind him as he walked. Yuna stared transfixed at the character, for a while not saying anything.
"Hey Yuna. I didn't know we were taking on passengers." Said Brother at the controls. Buddy sat near him watching Kileney closely; as was Paine.
"It's all right Brother, Kileney is an old friend, and he can help us." Yuna explained. Kileney said nothing for a while he just glanced at Yuna on occasions but he seemed lost in thought. It was only when Yuna needed to know where they were going that he spoke up.
"We need to head North, I sent Le Blanc south so we could get a few days ahead." Kileney said Yuna watching him curiously. Everyone turned round to face him. Paine narrowed her eyes accusingly.
"You've seen Le Blanc?" Yuna asked watching a small smile approach Kileney's face.
"Let's just say that, she couldn't keep her eyes off me." Paine's eyes were fixed angrily on Kileney; in her eyes he was digging his own grave. But Yuna only seemed hurt that Kileney was so at ease with it. Even he noticed this, and smiled happily at his old friend. Rikku was watching the passionate tension between the two. The ship took flight and everyone watched Kileney for the story about why Le Blanc had arrived on Zanark. "She landed about two days before you." Kileney started, "She was with these two guys, I didn't know who they were but..." he glanced at Yuna panicking, "all she wanted to know was where some Sphere was." Rikku looked at him eagerly, "But the only Sphere I knew of was the one I had taken before hand and I wasn't going to give her that." Paine suddenly spoke up.
"You have the Sphere. Give to us." She snarled. Kileney looked at Yuna for help and then smiled cockily. Paine was more confused then usual.
"No." Kileney said, "There's someone I have to talk to first, then you can have it." He said taking Yuna's hand and leading her away from the others. "Yuna are you sure you want to find him?" Kileney asked. Yuna looked confused for a moment and then grew angry with Kileney. Why did always want what was best for her even when she was a child he had been too protective.
"Stop treating me like I am twelve years old again, Kileney." She cried. Kileney was hurt he only wanted what was best for her.
"Yuna. I am just saying that when you find him he may not be the man he was." Kileney told her smiling slightly and putting his hands on her shoulder. "I want nothing more then to make you happy." He said hugging her tightly. This was something Yuna had missed since the day Kileney had walked away. She missed being able to hug him and never worry about anything. He would always protect her and she knew that.
