Chapter one

lying down in her bed, Regina stared at the ceiling in the dark. She didn't sleep much since robin died. It seemed whenever she closed her eyes, all she could see was him. Him, Robin, Her soulmate. The man she the loved, the man who looked at her with love in his eyes. The man who was now...gone.

She sighed as she realized it was going to be just another sleepless night. She moved the covers off and slid out of bed. She opened her bedroom door, walked down the stairs and into the den. She poured herself a glass of cider.

"Oh..uh...David, What're you doing here?"

Charming looked at her, worry in his eyes. "You didn't answer your phone. I got concerned."

"You're telling me you drove all the way here, in the middle of the night, because I didn't answer my phone? Did it ever occur to you that I could have been sleeping."

"Well...no..no it didn't. I'm sorry, did I wake you?"

Regina shook her head. "No, David you didn't wake me. I was just having a glass of cider. Would you like a glass before you go?"

"I'd love one, thank you."

Charming said with a smile.

Regina moved to the side so he could come in. She closed the door and made her way toward the den with charming in tow.

Regina poured charming a glass and handed it to him. "Thank you!" he said. Regina smiled in response. They made their way over to the couch and sat down.

"Why are you here David?"

Charming looks up from his glass and responds, "I told you I was concerned about you. Regina are you alright? I mean..really alright?" Staring at a book on the coffee table. Regina responds, "I'm fine David...really I'm okay."

Charming sets his glass down and takes a hold of her hand. "I don't think you are." Regina looks up at him. "You don't have to be so strong all the time. You have people who care for you. People you can talk to."

Regina pulls her hand away and stands up. She runs her fingers through her hair and starts to pace. She turns to charming. "Like who? I don't have anyone. All I have left is Henry. I'm damn sure not going to talk to my son about losing robin. I don't want him to see me like that."

Charming rises from the couch and walks over to her.

"You don't have to. You have Snow, Emma and me Regina." He takes her glass and sets it on the table. He takes a hold of her hands. Despite Regina looking down, he sees a tear roll down her cheek.

"Hey it's okay." He puts one finger under her chin to lift her head so they could be face to face. He uses his thumb to wipe her tears away. "Talk to me Regina." She shakes her head and closes her eyes."I miss him. I can't sleep, I barely want to eat most days. I just lie in bed wondering what I could have had if rob..robin hadn't died. I..I.." Her body starts to shake and charming pulls her into a his arms.

He starts to rub soothing circle on her back. "Come on, let's sit down." He leads her to the couch. With Charming still holding her, they sit down. He pulls her to his chest, still rubbing her back.

"You're going to get through this."

Regina starts to calm down. She looks up at charming. "You don't know that David. Maybe this is just how it's supposed to be."

Charming shakes his head. "Regina you are the strongest person I know. I know for a fact you will get through this. You will be happy. You will find that special person you can live the rest of your life with. It may be hard to believe that now, but I promise you Regina it will get easier. You just have to believe"

Charming looks down to see that Regina has fallen asleep. He kisses the top of her head. He thinks about bringing her to her room but decides he doesn't want to move her just yet. He looks down at her. "I will make sure you get your happy ending Regina. You deserve it more than anyone."
