Softpaw's tree topper.

Softpaw lashed her tail, gaze locked on the looming sycamore tree.

The nights silence clung in the misty air, the crisp leafs that lay on the ground where coved in a thin sheet of frost.

Softpaw knew that sneaking away from camp, to climb the tallest tree in the forest that was slippery due to the frost was not a good idea.

There was only one reason why she was doing this.

Silverflare.

Softpaw couldn't help but let our a growl at the thought of her sister's name, she was the new medicine cat, her mentor, Toughnose, died when she was a 'paw' and she was soon a full medicine cat, and Dewclan's pride and joy.

Might as well be called Silverclan

Softpaw was jealous of all the attention her sister was getting.

I just need to show myself I can do this!

Tightening her muscles, Softpaw's light-brown pelt sprung of the ground, as she clung onto a branch and hauled herself onto it.

Panting, Softpaw looked at the ground.

Let's see Silverflare do that!

Looking at how far she had jumped, Softpaw was surprised at her new found power.

Let's see any warrior do that!

Determined not to give up, Softpaw took another leap, this time, her paws were only meet by a whip of leaf's, not another branch.

Opening her eyes, all Softpaw could see was the ground, before the blackness took over her sight, again.

"Softpaw."

A voice shock Softpaw awake, as she managed to rise to her paws and become face to face with a cat made of stars

"Greeting's Softpaw." Mewed the large solver tom.

"W-who are you?" Asked the apprentice, to afraid to ask where she was, and if this was where she would stay.

"I'm Wavecrash." Softpaw took a step back, and gave the tom a hostile glance.

She had heard of Wavecrash many times, he was her father, who died when she was a moon old.

"So I see you at last." The she cat was ferociously swishing her tail.

"Why are you not glad to see me?"

"Glad?" Softpaw let out a snarl, "Glad! All you ever did for me was name me! You and Mother have such strong names! So does Silverflare, and you name your other kit 'Softpaw' !"

Taking a step forward, Wavecrash drew in a breath. "Now, calm down-"

"No!" Softpaw had to tell someone her feelings, no matter how painful it was.

"All I ever hear from Silverflare is how she talks to you every half-moon!You never bother to acknowledge me, never send a message, and after how close my sister is with you, the only time I see you is when I die!"

Rage fizzed through every part of Softpaw, no matter what her father named her, she was not a soft cat.

Surprised at her fathers laughter, Softpaw shook her pelt.

"My dear kit, you are not dead!"

Red hot embarrassment filled the she-cat, "Oh."

"The reason I saw you," He began, "Was to teach you."

A tree appeared behind the apprentices father, as he swiftly sprung to the top of the tree.

"You have great power, my kit." Softpaw drank in all her father said.

"First, you must look where you're going, and use that to aim your leap, keeping your eyes on the surroundings."

Suddenly, the world started to crumble around the she-cat.

Dipping his head, Wavecrash let out a low mew, "Goodbye my daughter, I will see you later."

Wailing in panic, Softoaw yowled her apology, "I'm sorry for what I said, father!"

"And I'm sorry to, Softbound."

Waking with a start, Softpaw had one name echo in her head.

Softbound.

She rather liked the sound of that!

Turning her head, the she-cat saw the moon start to drown in the distance, and rose to her paws.

I better get back to camp.

Suddenly, Softpaw saw a mouse, sniffing the ground, barely two fox lengths away. Lowering to a crouch, Softpaw stalked the potential piece of prey.

I'm always up for the challenge.
