Merry-Go-Round-

"Stop it! I'm begging you old man!" Boris shrieked as he ran.

Alice looked at him as he dashed by and sighed. Sometimes he could really be dramatic. Sure, Gowland's playing was horrible, but he could've at least refrained from shouting. "Ah! Alice!" the owner said pleasantly as he walked around the brick corner. "It's nice to see you again."

Smiling Alice said, "It's nice to see you too. I was actually wondering if I could maybe get a job here. Julius doesn't want me helping him with the clocks." Alice looked down to her feet. She began to sway front-wards and backwards, nervous on what he would say.

Gowland put a hand on her shoulder. "Alice…"

That was when Alice lost it. Brushing his hand off she turned around. "It's alright. I knew you would say no. After all, I'm absolutely no help," she mumbled. Quickly she ran out, ignoring the pleas of Gowland telling her to stay.

Gowland's POV-

I watched as Alice ran away from me. Seriously, sometimes I had no idea on what made girls tick. Well, in Alice's case, beat considering she had a heart. I sighed, shaking my head. "I was going to say that it was a wonderful idea."

Walking away I began to wonder why she had chosen to work here after Julius told her no. It didn't take me long to come up with an idea. The Hatter's Mansion was a definite no; they worked with weapons everyday.

The Castle of Hearts might've been even worse than the mansion. Alice was trying to avoid Peter, and it was obvious. Also she would've been afraid of Vivaldi shouting, "Off with her head!"

A frown appeared on my face. If only she had listened to me. She wouldn't have had to try the other territories.

The Next Day: Alice's POV-

The twins had kidnapped me from the tower and brought me to the Amusement Park. Not only that but Elliot came and dragged them back to the mansion to work. I really didn't want to be here. I had ran out of here yesterday, and it wasn't a pleasant memory.

Sighing I walked around the park, figuring I should ride at least one thing before leaving. Then I spotted the Merry-Go-Round, the only 'safe' ride in the entire park.

I walked into line and felt out of place. The only people in the line were small children and their parents. As I got on and the music started to play I saw Gowland. I cringed back, not wanting him to see me.

Of course he looked over at the ride that sounded like his name. His face twisted into one of disappointment. A second later, as he was turning away, he spotted me. Gowland ran over, hopped onto the running ride, and made his way over to me. "About yesterday, I was going to say 'yes,'" he huffed slightly.

My face twisted into wonder, then into appreciation. I smiled. "Thank you so much! You don't know how much you just helped me!"

He sat on the horse behind him, sidesaddle. Gowland pouted. "You know, I really don't like this ride."

I laughed. He shot me an irritated look but it soon softened to one of caring. "It doesn't help that you're sitting on the horse like a girl," I giggled.

Gowland suddenly realized how he was sitting and corrected himself so that one leg was on either side. A slight blush came on his face. I laughed even more and the blush darkened. "Sometimes, I just don't get you," he mumbled under his breath.

Writing a romance with Gowland is hard, not to mention slightly creepy because he's a lot older than what Alice seems to be. I tend to think of him as the crazy, weird uncle of the family so I wrote him slightly that way. This was really hard to come up with, I literally had no idea where it was going. I think it turned out alright, though!
