Dean watched Sam playing with his one and only toy truck. Being 6 years old, Sam still had his innocence intact. He was oblivious to the trials and tribulations he would have to face in later years, very much unlike Dean.
It was at the tender age of 4 when Dean had first witnessed the perils of life, and they were forever scarred and sore in his memory. Dean would have to live with that... but Sam didn't have to. Not yet. Dean would make sure Sam stayed innocent. He would protect him for as long as he could.
