Rena stared through teary eyes at the ceramic tiles of her bathroom. Although, the bathroom was rather clean she could see black mold working its way through the grout lines. She sat on the floor hugging her legs. "There's nothing..." She whispered so silently that it hardly interrupted the electric hum of her home. She was the only one home. Had her father been there she would not have left her bedroom unless absolutely necessary.
The young girl lifted her frail, pale frame supporting herself with the wall she had just been leaning on. She looked at her image in the mirror. She could barely recognize the person staring back at her. The girl on the other side of the glass' face was white, except under the eyes which were red and irritated. The hair around her face matted to it with sweat and tears. "There's nothing... left." Rena stared at her own lips in the reflection, reading them as the words escaped. "You knew you where marked. Did you think you could find happiness?"
She dragged her fingers down the reflection leaving a streaks on the mirror before opening it to go through the medicine cabinet. While looking a small bottle of vitamins fell into the sink. Rena sneered in annoyance and swiped the shelves with the back of her hand. The rattling of the the cabinets contents on the bathroom floor only further frustrated Rena. She slammed the medicine cabinet shut over and over until the mirror shattered. She fell to her knees sobbing her hands resting on the broken shards.
"Rena! What's going on in there?!" Her father bellowed on the other side of the bathroom door before hammering on it with his fists. He must have come home recently. Rena couldn't hear him pull into the driveway over the ringing in her ears.
"Stay out! There's nothing left for me!" Rena screamed wide-eyed at the door. With a hard kick the door swung open.
"Rena! What are you doing?!" He yelled. Rena clung to a shard, causing her fingers to bleed and held it to her wrist.
"I can't do it, dad...Oyashiro-sama won't allow me happiness ever again. This is the only escape. Today was just further proof..." She said with a flat expression.
"Oh, for Christ's sake Rena! Fine!! I'll take you to Chucky Cheese." Rena dropped the mirror.
"You...you mean the curse is lifted? We can go and have pizza?" She asked meekly.
"I cooked dinner already, though." He said, getting frustrated.
"I see..." She said, reaching for the shard again.
"Alright, aright we'll have pizza!!" He drops the shard and hugs her father before cheerfully skipping out of the bathroom.
"Hooray!! Daddy's sacrifice of pizza has appeased Oyashiro-sama!" She shouts from the hall.
"I'm calling the lawyer tomorrow! Your mom's getting custody!"
The End
