Tommy paced his apartment back and forth. He wasn't doing this. Not now, not ever. There was no way he could ever do this and expect him to look at him the same way. He already must suspect it though. Tommy almost blew his cover at the gig, but he must know. Adam's not stupid.
Out of all people, Adam is the first one to detect romance when he sees it. The door knob shakes and Tommy freezes. He has enough time to dive under the bed before Adam opens the door and sees him. Tommy clamped down on the inside of his cheek before he did something stupid, like sneeze. He could see Adam's boots as he slowly walked in, presumably looking for Tommy.
Adam seemed to stop, then his footsteps faded away. Tommy let out a sigh of relief and closed his eyes. When he opened them, he jerked in alarm to see Adam upside down, his blue grey eyes staring right back at him.
"What the hell are you doing?" Adam asked, slightly amused. Tommy's face grew scarlet and he hid his face with the longer part of his blond hair.
"I was looking for my contacts." He said lamely. Adam smiled, which made Tommy's heart leap into his throat.
"Your contacts, huh? Tommy I never knew that you had contacts."
"Neither did I." Tommy muttered, which made Adam laugh.
"Now are you really going to tell me what you're doing hiding under the bed?" Tommy shook his head, and for some reason, tears began to prick his eyes. Adam noticed as well because his face grew concerned. He reached under the bed, still upside down, and pulled Tommy out by his hands until half of his body was out. "Tommy, what's wrong?" Adam asked. "You know you can tell me anything."
"I know." Tommy said, shaking his hair in front of his face so Adam couldn't see the tears in his eyes.
"You have a crush on sombody." Classic Adam.
"Yeah." Tommy said without thinking. There was no point in lying. Adam knew he was right. Adam pulled the rest of Tommy out and patted the space next to him on the bed. Tommy sat cross legged, his face still hidden.
"If you like her, shouldn't that make you excited?" Adam asked.
"Yes I'm excited but I'm afraid she'll reject me because of the relationship we have."
"Would you be willing to give her up to save the friendship?" Adam asked.
"She has lots of men after her, but she's never shown too much interest. I'm afraid that if I admit my love to her, it would not only work out, but it could damage us forever because it didn't work out."
"Well..." Adam said thoughtfully. "If I were in your place and if it were a guy, I would stop being afraid and tell her. Its dangerous, risky, but if you love her that much, you'll tell her."
"And if she rejects me?"
"I don't know why she would. You're one hell of a guy, Tommy. Any person would be lucky to have you. And I'm not being sappy, I'm being serious. You're my glitterbaby." A smile tugged at Tommy's lips, but he was only able to give it halfheartedly.
"Tommy, look at me." Adam said. Tommy looked up and Adam brushed the hair from Tommy's eyes. "Don't be afraid to tell her." He whispered, making Tommy's heart melt. He laid on his side, his head resting on Adam's leg, and Adam ran his fingers through Tommy's hair, humming softly. When Tommy started to drift off, he felt Adam press his lips against Tommy's temple. "Don't be afraid." He whispered before Tommy fell asleep
