A Tribute to the Fallen
RIP
Harry stood before the thousands that had come to attend the memorial. He looked toward Andromeda, who was holding little Teddy in her arms...Teddy, who, like him, would never know his parents...
He cleared his throat, as Hermione gave him a weak, but nevertheless encouraging smile from Ron's arms.
"I...have no idea what to say..." he finally said
"I know that some people make speeches about the achievements at memorials, but I can't say anything...
The truth is...there were many whom I barely knew...many who didn't even know me well...
But I'm grateful that they fought with me.." he said quietly
" The people I can talk about, the people I knew...
Fred..." he saw George convulse, while Ginny cried in his arms
"He was...like a brother to me..." Ron looked up to give him a faint smile, tears pouring down his face. Harry felt his own eyes fill, but he swallowed back the lump that was forming
"...he could make you laugh at the most depressing of times...and he's one of those people who always stood by me...even when everyone else was against me...
"And Profe- Remus.." he said, calling his mentor, and the one who would've been like an uncle to him, by his name for the first time
"he was the best teacher I've ever had...and he was the best friend you could ask for" he continued, when a loud wail from Teddy interrupted him, as if the child had somehow sensed that he was speaking about his father.
"He was a werewolf.." Harry continued, now unable to hold back a tear from sliding down his cheek "but he proved that it didn't matter...
And Tonks, she was fun, bubbly, clumsy..."He said, smiling a little.
"She was the bravest Hufflepuff I've known..." he said softly, wiping the tear off his face
The last person I can talk about is Colin...
He was...he was extremely jumpy, and very, infact, too energetic..." he said, grinning as he remembered the young 11 year old Colin Creevey.
"He would've done anything to help me...but I didn't think that it would one day cost him his life..." Harry said, his voice thick
He couldn't stop it now, his tears flowed freely down his had always thought that Voldemort's downfall would be an occasion of joy, f he survived, yet he was feeling a pain so severe that it was unbearable...
Remus, Tonks, Fred...they were all gone...but he closed his eyes, as he remembered his godfather's words..
"My godfather told me once, that the ones we love, never truly leave us. They always stay with us." He patted his heart "in our hearts...and in our memories..."
May their souls rest in peace for eternity.
