I don't own anything!
It's not like you don't try. He's just dense, that's all. Despite all his perceptiveness, he really doesn't get the subtle meanings behind your actions when it really counts. As you see him faintly blushing around those other girls, you feel your heart clenching painfully inside your chest; your mind constantly reminding you that he doesn't act that way with you. There is a twinge of jealousy but it's mostly just aching sadness ready to burst out of you in the form of tears. Yet on the outside, you keep on smiling, laughing along with your friends, threatening them with your hockey stick partly as a joke but mostly serious. You try to desperately ignore the all-knowing look that Switch is sending in your direction, not that it's hardly any different from all his other looks.
And you feel stupid that you're still holding on to the tiny thread of hope that one day, he finally looks your way.
You feel like just giving up but every time you try, the image of him smiling at you with his outstretched hand comes to the front of your mind and you feel your heart skip a beat as you find yourself falling deeper.
You realize that it's a vicious cycle, a one that you can't escape; your heart just won't allow you the freedom.
The room is all too quiet and you find that everyone is already gone. Switch gives a rapid excuse as he rushes out of the door. Something about Momoka and her concert but you're too busy staring at Bossun's face to concentrate on anything else. Even with the blatant stare, he doesn't notice you despite being alone with you in the room. He doesn't notice you, as always. At least not in that way, the way you hope he notices you. You turn your face away, not wanting him to see your pained face. Still, if he saw you and made an odd comment, no doubt the hockey stick will be flying immediately as you deny the accusations with a tell-tale red face.
You walk out of the school next to him in silence. It's not awkward at the very least but it's not what you want it to be. Still, you remain quiet, too embarrassed to voice your thoughts or even act upon it.
The weather is cold and you realize this as you shiver slightly in your relatively thin clothing. You now regret that you left your coat in the classroom. But then again, you don't because that means that you wouldn't be able to walk with Bossun.
Suddenly, you feel a warm, fluffy coat covering your shoulders and you look up from the ground you were staring at with a start. You see Bossun walking considerably faster ahead of you but he is close enough for you to spot the faint hue of pink dusting his cheeks despite his efforts to cover it up with a gruff frown. You smile and think that maybe your wish isn't so impossible to fulfil after all.
But then, you happily think that even without the desired relationship or the answer to your feelings, you will be content in just being by his side as a friend.
