I do not own Les Miz
She woke up to the sound of birds chirping. She stretched her arms and yawned loudly. "What time is it?" She muttered rolling to her side. "Where's Gav and 'Zelma?" Fearing that something had happened to her siblings, she quickly got up and looked around the house. "Gav? 'Zelma?" She called. Then she realized how much noise she making. "Oh, God Mama and Papa will be furious at me!" She quickly ran to their room only to find them sleeping soundly. That's weird. She thought. Normally Papa wakes up at the slightest noise. She went out of her house and walked down the road. It was unnaturally quiet. She turned the corner and saw a giant barricade. When did they build that? She wondered. She climbed over the barricade and a shred of memory came back to her. Why do I feel like I've done this before… to save someone… She saw the old, battered, café.
Unconsciously her feet led her to the place. In the building she could here someone singing - softly, sweetly, and full of emotion. "There's a grief that can't be spoken… there's a pain goes on and on… empty chairs and empty tables… now my friends are dead and gone…" There was a young gentleman sitting on one of the broken chairs singing this song. I know him… I loved him… but who is he? How does he relate to me? After the man finished the song, she approached him. "Monsieur, that was a beautiful song you sang." She said crossing over to him. He made no indication that he had heard her. "Monsieur…" He stood and turned around quickly. "Cosette." A young blonde woman had entered the room and dried his tears. "Oh, Marius…" the blonde, Cosette, said. "I just can't help but think it was my fault!" the gentleman, Marius, said. "Every day I think of the time 'Ponine saved me! It's all my fault… if I had been more careful, she wouldn't have…" His voice trailed off.
'Ponine… that's my name… My name is Eponine! "Monsieur Marius! I'm right here!" Eponine shouted. But Marius could not seem to hear her. Little by little memories came back to her. The day she met Marius… She fell in love with him… The day Marius met Cosette… How she had been so jealous… How she was always on her own… The Revolution. The barricade! Her saving Marius's life, but why did her memories stop there? "Come with me Marius, we will go home." Cosette said, taking his arm. "Monsieur Marius wait!" Eponine reached out to grab him, but her hand could not touch him. Wide-eyed, she looked down at her hand. Why can't I touch him? Could it be that I'm… dead…? Is Gav and 'Zelma dead too? Is that why they didn't answer when I called?
Eponine finally realized why she had come back. She hurried quickly after Marius and Cosette. "Marius! Cosette!" She screamed. "I give you my blessing! Live happily together!" Marius looked up. "Cosette, did you hear that?" Cosette nodded, with tears in her eyes. "Eponine… it felt like she was just hear… and she gave us her blessing…" As the two rode off in the carriage Eponine roamed the streets, until she ran into someone. "My apologize Monsieur!" She said hastily. "Polite as ever, Eponine." "Enjolras!" "Come with me Mademoiselle." Eponine looked up at the Revolution's leader's sparkling blue eyes and glowing blonde hair. She took his hand. "Enjolras… you look like an angel." He smiled. "I am one."
Together they took to the heavens.
