It was quiet throughout the Gryffindor tower as Sirius Black sat against his bed head in the boys' dormitory, his wand and the glowing moon outside providing the only light. Across from him, Remus Lupin lay with his hands crossed behind his head and his eyes were drooping sleepily. Peter Pettigrew was already snoring and twitching restlessly as he slept.

"Suppose they go out," said Sirius suddenly.

"Who?" Yawned Remus.

"Don't be daft," said Sirius, throwing his pillow at him, "James and Lily of course!"

"Oh," Remus threw the pillow back, "I don't know."

"You think he'll abandon us?" Sirius asked, his cool composition faltering slightly at the thought.

"I really doubt it, Padfoot. I actually think she'll hang around with us… I mean… Do you really see James homing in on a study session with her and Snape?"

Sirius snorted, "I'd really like to believe it was a study session."

Remus frowned into the dark, "I don't think Lily-"

"Oh please, have you seen the way Snivelly looks at her?"

"Yeah, but she doesn't feel the same way… She's not like him at all."

"Says who?"

"Says the red and gold embroided on her robes."

Sirius rolled his eyes. "You and Dumbledore should get married."

"Pardon?" asked Remus, startled.

"Both trying to see the good in everyone."

"But Lily is a good person," said Remus defensively.

"Then why-"

"Because she – like me apparently – tries to see the good in everyone."

Sirius opened and closed his mouth a few times. "But do you think they've…?"

"Oh give it a rest pup. She has more morals than that," Remus heaved an exhausted sigh, as if dealing with an annoying child. Sirius still wasn't convinced, but he didn't raise his opinions to anyone else.

"She's a looker though, ay?" said Sirius after a while.

"Good night Padfoot," Remus said loudly, turning over. Sirius extinguished the light from his wand and chuckled at Remus and his unwillingness to discuss girls.
