Shrine Your Light On Me
It was the summer vacation, and since school was out she spent most of her days and nights here tending to the shrine and its visitors. Rising in the early hours to pray before preparing for the day of work ahead, she missed her friends the most in the mid afternoons when the chaos started to lessen and she began to feel a little lonesome. Then again, Rei always knew Yuuichiro was close by and would always lend an ear; although, she didn't reciprocate the feelings he felt towards her.
Thursday night, cleaning up after the tourists who visit the shrine was just another routine Rei had grown to loathe. It had been expected of her from a young age, since grandfather always complained he was tired from chasing the girls when he was still with her. Now that she ran the Hikawa Shrine alone - well, with the help of Yuuichiro - she had a lot more work to do. Sweeping the last of the litter into the duster, she felt a chill down her spine and turning to face her 'friend' oblivious to the potential danger she tried to shoo him off for an early night to no avail.
The leaves began to rustle from the nearby treetops and within moments, the two were swept off their feet. Stunned, they looked up to see a rather oddly dressed figure in front of them with a smirk. Rei, knowing what was to ensue, lept to her feet and told it to back off. She'd recognised the youma in an instant, and knew why it was here. It had spotted Rei in mid-transformation the last time they fought. She hoped she was far enough into the transformation so that she wouldn't be recognised by the youma, but it seems she was mistaken and was now dodging an attack after attack from it.
She threw out her ofuda in an attempt to overcome her enemy with little result.
Yuuichiro, too, was now on his feet and lept in front of Rei, as he gauged the situation, in an attempt to protect Rei. This however, was perhaps not the wisest for as quickly as he was on his feet - he was knocked off them again. Rei fought hard as herself, but the youma was too quick. Hesitant on what to do next, she glanced over at her partner who was now on his knees before she was caught in the her attackers grasp and thrown across the shrine. She had to do it - otherwise they would both be dead.
Her identity can't be more important than saving a life...
