Tsuzuki was on cloud nine when it was finally his turn in the long line of customers to order. And this time, he had the budget to get the most mouthwatering sweet on the menu. He opened his smiling mouth to order, but was interrupted when Gushoshin appeared next to him. Tsuzuki you're late. Tatsumi sent me to get you. It seems that you have a new case." The bird informed him. "What about desert?" Tsuzuki asked. "That can wait." Gushoshin said sounding a bit annoyed. Tsuzuki gasped not hiding the shock and dismay he felt not being able to have his sweets. "Come on, we need to get going."
"So you finally decided to show up." Chief Konoe said as Tsuzuki and Gushoshin entered the room. "Where have you been?" Hisoka asked. "I was getting some sweets." Tsuzuki said. "Figures." Hisoka said already brushing him off. Tatsumi said, "I guess I will have to go over it again for Mr. Skip-out-on-work here." Tsuzuki frowned. Had he really been gone long enough for them to go over the entire assignment? Then again that line had been pretty long. "So what's the case this time?" Tsuzuki asked.
"It seems that in a small town called Sotoba people have been dying of a strange illness." Tatsumi said.
"Just an illness?" Tsuzuki asked, "Guardians of death only investigate mysterious deaths."
"You didn't let me finish." Tatsumi continued. "Their bodies are registered as dead, but their souls don't end up here. They're still on the list. But the even stranger part is that it's only a select few who die that don't end up here."
"What?" Tsuzuki exclaimed. "How is that possible? Could it be-" "Dr. Muraki," Konoe said. "He might have something to do with this, after all he was behind the Dracula case. Which is why I assigned this case to you to investigate."
"So Sotoba?" Tsuzuki asked, "Let's get going! We can stop for desert on the way!"
"Can you think of anything other than your stomach?" Gushoshin asked. "You need to take this more seriously," Hisoka told him with a slight scowl on his face. Then Konoe but in, "And besides, there's a low budget for this case, so you won't be able to afford your deserts."
"What?" Tsuzuki said with dismay. He looked almost like a puppy that didn't get it's dog treat.
"Come on." Hisoka said, "Let's get going." Tsuzuki nodded and the partners left on their new case.
The bird Gushoshin said to the remaining people in the room, "I sure hope that they can solve this one." Tatsumi and Konoe nodded. "This could be their hardest case yet."
