Summary: An insight on those rare moments R2 has in regretting the loss of his jets. Post-RotJ, One-Shot, no OCs, no slash. Pure and simple. Extremely short.

A/N: Just a small little story. Not much to it. I realize that R2 doesn't really think about losing his jets too much but I went with it anyway.

Disclaimer: I don't own this awesome robot. George Lucas does. I just want to build my own but that doesn't mean I own the character. 'Cause I don't. 'Kay, bye. This is awkward. Go turtles.

Everything had settled down. His Master was asleep as well as his friends and the Ewoks. Even 3PO shut down for the night. So why was he still there? Why did the sky look so nice right now? Why did he feel a longing that only flying could cure?

R2-D2 looked at the sky from the small wood bridge. The sky was clear, revealing the stars beyond the planet's atmosphere. It was that rare feeling again and for some reason, he felt it now more than ever. R2 was regretting the loss of his jets.

If he had them, maybe he would have been a bit more helpful in the final battle. Maybe he could prevent getting shot by that soldier. He could have at least done something other than sit there and do nothing. Well, he was opening the door, sort of.

If only he wasn't as foolish back then. He shouldn't have taken that incredible tool for granted. Those jets helped him take down so many enemies; so many missions were saved by some quick thinking and those jets. If those parts were still in production, maybe things could have turned out differently. They might have done things a bit quicker.

But everything was fine. He was still there, 3PO was still in one piece, and everyone was still alive. Well, almost everyone. But he lost Anakin a long time ago. So, why regret his small loss? Why not mourn Anakin?

R2 turned to leave. Even if he couldn't fly without a ship anymore, his friends were still there and he was still with them. Nothing would change that for a while. R2 rolled back to the small hut he shared with 3PO and shut down for the night.

The thought of his jets lost to the galaxy once again.
