Emily Geller dropped all the rest of the mail when she spotted the off-white envelope with the Harvard seal on it. She quickly tore open the letter and let out a loud scream before running across the street to the Grey household. She knocked excitedly on the door and Denise Grey opened it shortly after.
"Emily!" Denise greeted, laughing as her best friend buzzed into the kitchen, where he sons sat around the table attempting to write a song together, "What happened?"
"She got in!" Emily handed Denise the letter.
"Oh, my God!" Denise squealed.
"I know!"
The two women hugged each other tightly as the boys attempted to take the letter from their mother. Finally, Nate managed to grab it and the boys quickly read it before doing their own celebration.
"This is it!" Emily beamed brightly, "She can finally go to Harvard like she's always wanted, and get the education I never got, and get to do all the things I never got to do, and then I can resent her for it, and we can finally have a normal mother/daughter relationship."
"What's going on?" Caitlyn asked, walking into the kitchen.
"You got this in the mail today!" Emily handed her the letter as she set her backpack down.
"OH, MY GOD!" Caitlyn exclaimed, excitedly hugging her mom as she joined her in screaming.
After the appropriate amount of time, Denise took Caitlyn from her mom and hugged her tightly, "We're so proud of you."
"Yeah," Nate beamed at his best friend, "congratulations!"
"Thank you!" Caitlyn beamed at him, hugging him tightly.
"You know what this means, right?" Shane asked, taking her from Jason.
"What?" Caitlyn laughed lightly.
"We're gonna have to find an apartment in Cambridge."
"Yeah," Jason continued, "You didn't think we could let you live that far away from us, did you?"
"Awww, guys." Caitlyn sighed, hugging the three boys tightly.
"Don't get sentimental on us." Shane groaned, "'Cause if you do, then Nate and Jason will, and I will have no choice but to shed a few tears."
The four best friends shared another laugh as Emily and Denise began to plan a congratulations party for Caitlyn.
