Hinami's staying at Ayato's house, after witnessing her parents' murders, because she was scared the investigators were after her.

Slightly influenced by this prompt:

Imagine your OTP slow-dancing to Love in December by Club 8 on a cold winter night, in front of the fireplace. Person A leans in and presses their forehead to person B's, their lips inches from each other as they dance.

Love In December.

It was at 12:30 am, Christmas Eve, that it happened.

Hinami was sitting on the couch, reading from one of the books Kaneki had given her, sipping coffee, when Ayato came in the door, in bloody clothes, and disappeared into the bathroom. He came back out in different clothes, took one look at her, with her red eyes and wavering calm, and went into his bedroom.

He stayed there so long that Hinami quit waiting for him, and slipped into the land of her book.

Ten minutes after he'd gone in there, he grabbed her book out of her hands, sat it on the couch, and pulled her up roughly, holding her wrist, to the middle of the room. His other hand, in his pocket, clicked something, and the stereo came to life, playing Love In December by Club 8.

He settled his hands on her waist, and hers ended up on his shoulders, even though she didn't mean them to.

"A-Ayato-chan-!" Gasped Hinami, pannicked, but he began steering them in a circle.

Ayato was a good head or two taller than Hinami, but with her putting as much distance between them as she could without removing her hands from his shoulders, he could easily kiss her.

Why am I thinking about that?!

Slowly, throughout the song, Hinami found herself draw closer and closer, until only about an inch seperated them, and stared into his eyes.

And at the end of the song, her hands knotted into his shirt, standing on her tiptoes, and she kissed him.
