She raised her arms and spun slowly, letting the snow collect on her upturned hands. She felt the complete and utter bliss that this place brought. Untouched snow ranged out around here for miles. A perfect view of the valley below. And plenty of hidden hollows to explore. Only one thing could make it better. She looked down and smiled sadly. Maybe another time, she told herself. For now we have work to do. She sighs happily and sets her shoulders back, shaking herself. This would be a new start. A new Kara. She set off confidently in the direction of town. There were only a few things that she needed and nothing was urgent. But it would be nice to get out and feel the new snow crunch under her boots.

Once in town, things ran as smooth as they could around others. She waved to neighbors and scratched Pogo's ear as she walked into the Deli. "Norm, I don't understand why you make that poor dog wait outside!" she exclaimed. Norm turned around and chuckled at her. "You know as well as I do that Pogo would put Bill here out of business if I let her any where near his product. Back for the usual? It seems a little early for you to be coming in to town. Hasn't even been a week yet."

She shrugged and smiled. "Guess there was a voice telling me I needed more meat." Norm roared with laughter at this. "You tell that little beast that he needs to stick to his canned food and stop stealing yours! You're too soft on that old cat." Kara smiled fondly, paid for her order and moved for the door, waving good by to both men. She reached for the door just as it opened. She stepped back quickly to make room for the newcomer and stopped dead. He was a little skinner than she liked her men normally but he looked sweet. As he turned to look at her she instantly revised her opinion. There was something electric in his look. She couldn't help but stare. Norm and Bill guffawed at her as she stood with her chin on her chest. Snapping her head up and mouth closed she flipped both of them off and walked out the door. She got about half way across the parking lot before she realized she forgot to say good bye to Pogo.

She didn't remember much of the walk home. The cold didn't even seem to bother her at all. In fact, she felt flushed. By the time she got home she was actually sweating. Dropping the bags on the counter she pulled off the gloves, beanie and scarf that she had wrapped herself up in before. She stood there for a moment trying to remember how to breathe. Something about him just stuck with her. She'd never see him in town before, that was for sure. A town this small, everyone knows everyone. She tried to shake off the spell she seemed to be under. But it wouldn't budge.

She finally stripped off her jacket as well. It was just too damn warm at the moment. Bracing herself she opened the door and stepped into the snow. There was a slight chill to the air but it felt as though she had a raging inferno inside of her. She could see the steam rolling off of her arms and she walked across the snow. She walked towards the edge of the small clearing her house sat in. Staring off into the trees she tried to make some sense out of what was going through her head. How could someone effect her so much when she didn't even know his name.
