When you need them to be.
They open their eyes
When you want them to see.
Brothers are that
Which everyone needs.
They are the blood
That everyone bleeds.
Brothers are those
You look up to or down.
They give you a smile
Whenever you frown.
Brothers are what
Keep me from dying.
They make me feel
As though I'm flying.
A brother is not
What you'd throw away.
Then tell me why
I did that today!
No word I spoke,
And nothing I said
Could make him stay back,
So I was silent instead.
If I reached out my hand,
And kept him from going,
Would that stop the tide
Of fate that was flowing?
If I called out to him,
And begged him to stay,
Would he stop and listen,
Or shrug and go away?
Others look at it,
And all they see's a sword.
They think it's just a toy
I play with when I'm bored.
But no one sees the ribbons,
Or likes the gold and red.
No one cares it's talking
About two men who are dead.
A silent testimony
Of the men who broke my heart,
Written on the ribbons;
Together, yet apart.
They're tattered and torn
From good and bad weather,
But still shines out the phrase;
We are still: "Brothers Forever".
Brotherhood is strong,
Brotherhood is firm.
It never lets you go,
No matter how you squirm.
Brotherhood is noble,
Brotherhood is free.
It lets you become
Whatever you wish to be.
Brotherhood is precious,
Brotherhood is dear.
It stifles all envy,
And banishes all fear.
Brotherhood is past,
Brotherhood is behind.
It is that something
I never seem to find.
But brotherhood has found me,
Brotherhood has won.
It brought my brothers back,
And now my story's done.
Author's Note: This poem is probably the last FFX poem that I'm going to write. I simply don't have inspiration for any others. And just so you know, the poem is referring to the Brotherhood sword Wakka gives Tidus, and goes along with that part of my novelisation.
